Tangtang Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Fogang County, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the south of Fogang County and the north of Pearl River Delta, with a total administrative area of 229.36 square kilometers. In 2018, the population of Tong Tang town registered residence was 77511. In 2020, Tangtang town governs 2 communities and 19 administrative villages.
In 1942, it was Tangtang Township, Qingyuan County. In June 1955, it was renamed Tangtang district. In January 1987, it was changed to Tangtang town. In May 2004, Sijiu town was merged into Tangtang town. There are Beijing Hong Kong Macao expressway, 106 National Highway and 354 provincial highway connecting the whole town, which has been integrated into the "one hour economic circle" of Guangzhou. The scenic spots in the territory mainly include Tangtang "Radon" hot spring, Huanghua Lake Wetland Park, Tangtang ancient village and Luodong old revolutionary base area, which enjoys the reputation of "Nanguo Dazhai".

Historical evolution
Tangtang town is named for its hot water pool (hot spring).
In 1942, it was Tangtang Township, Qingyuan County.
In February 1953, it was changed into the seventh district of Qingyuan County, which was under the jurisdiction of Fogang County and listed as the Fourth District of Fogang County.
In June 1955, it was renamed Tangtang district.
In March 1957, it was divided into Tangtang, rongpu and 499 townships.
In October 1958, Shujiang people's commune was established by merging with Longshan.
In May 1959, Tangtang people's commune was established from Shujiang people's commune.
In December 1983, the community was removed and changed into a district office.
In January 1987, it was changed to Tangtang town.
In May 2004, Sijiu town was merged into Tangtang town.

History and culture
Ancient village
Tangtangwei
Tangtangwei was formed in the reign of emperor qiangshun (1457-1456). Because the hot pool (hot spring) was in the village, it was named tangtangwei. The Feng ancestral hall and Zhou ancestral hall were listed in the list of immovable cultural relics in Fogang County in 2012. Tangtangwei was recognized as the third batch of ancient villages in Guangdong Province by Guangdong Federation of literary and art circles and Guangdong Association for democracy and people's livelihood in September 2012.
Weizhen Village
Weizhen village was built in the Hongzhi period of Ming Dynasty (1488-1505). It was named Weizhen village because it was surrounded by walls and canals. In 2007, the dance in Weizhen village was rated as a provincial intangible cultural heritage; in 2012, the zhugudun site, chushiguogong tomb, Liu's ancestral hall, and the former site of Shujiang county Party committee and people's Government of Shujiang county were listed in the intangible cultural heritage list of Fogang County.
Pojiao Village
Pojiao village is a natural village under the jurisdiction of Xintang village committee of Tangtang town. It is an ancient village with Lingnan culture, which was built in the late Ming Dynasty. It still has a relatively complete group of houses with Lingnan characteristics. This is the hometown of general Zhou Fen who made outstanding contributions to the Anti Japanese movement. Pojiao village has seized the opportunity of beautiful rural construction, combined with the profound Lianxi culture and simple folk customs, played the role of Villager Council in villager autonomy, and built an ecological agriculture leisure sightseeing park integrating "colorful flowers, green fruits and vegetables, picking entertainment, leisure accommodation".

Dance by the lion
Every year on the 15th and 16th day of the first lunar month, women in Weizhen village of Tangtang town have a peculiar custom of dancing "Bei Shi", which has been handed down from generation to generation.
Every year at noon of the Lantern Festival, gongs and drums are heard in Weizhen village. A group of women, in groups of two, step on the beat of gongs and drums and put on sheets to dance as lions. Among them, there are young women, middle-aged women and old women who dance "Bei lion". Traditionally, those who dance "by the lion" are the wives and mothers-in-law of last year's newlyweds or newly acquired families. However, some new wives are trendy and do not follow the old customs. They can also be replaced by their roommates.
Under the guidance of the banner, the Buddha with big head and the lion, the dance team set off firecrackers all the way through the villages and alleys to celebrate the wedding and the new family. "By the lion" to each family, first worship the door god, kitchen king, and then worship the wedding bed. After one-to-one worship, the host took out tea, sweet wine, rice cake and candy as a reward, and then burned a string of long firecrackers to send them off. "By the lion" dance to the evening.
Dancing carp lamp
There are many kinds of dancing carp lamps, such as shrimp lamp, crab lamp, snail lamp, frog lamp and so on. The skeleton is made of bamboo, the exterior is pasted with paper, and various colors are added. There are candles inside for lighting, which makes it vivid and vivid.
On the eve of the Spring Festival, firecrackers and drumbeats burst out in Tianxin village, and carp lantern teams dance back and forth in front of every house. On the evening of the second day of the lunar new year, a team of more than 100 people was formed, firing ground guns, beating gongs and drums, and dancing the carp lantern out of the village to worship in other places, which was very popular with the masses. They use the carp lamp dance into the words of blessing, auspiciousness and happiness to send good wishes to the people.
Dragon Dance
Dragon dance is a custom in tangtangwei every Spring Festival or major festival. There is a saying of "dragon dance in upper gate and lion dance in lower gate", which is collectively referred to as tangtangwei dragon dance. The dragon body is usually placed in the ancestral hall of the village. On the day of dragon dance, banners, gongs, drums and horns are used as the forerunners. The respected old people in the village invite the dragon body out of the temple and connect it with the dragon head and tail. The old man took the dragon to the river for worship, chanting the slogan of "dragon ball in the sky, prince in the earth" while worshiping, and holding the finishing ceremony. The dragon's body is made of bamboo into a round dragon shape, which is connected with each other. It is covered with a huge red cloth painted with dragon scales. Every five or six feet there is a person holding a pole. The distance between the head and the tail is about ten feet long. In front of the dragon, a man holds a pole to lead the dragon, and a giant ball is erected on the top of the pole as a guide. When dancing, the giant ball swings around, and the dragon head grabs the ball, causing the dragon body to swim and fly. Tangtang hot spring is the earliest recorded hot spring in Guangdong Province. The hot spring water comes from the depth of the earth's crust 150 meters underground.
