Tongqu town
Tongqu town is located in the southeast of Longchuan County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, adjacent to Shuangtou town of Wuhua County in the East, xianzizhang in the west, Heshi in the South and Qiling in the north. It is a hilly and mountainous area with a total area of 100.7 square kilometers. It has 17 villagers' committees, two neighborhood committees, 307 economic cooperatives and 20820 people (in 2017).
History and culture
Tongqu town is located in the center of the ancient official road connecting Southern Jiangxi, eastern Guangdong and southwestern Fujian. In the Northern Song Dynasty, a "post station" was set up here, which means "the road should be the rush of Fujian and Guangdong, and the interpretation of wheels and hooves can not be stopped in the road". The thoroughfare has a long history, beautiful mountains and rivers, many historic sites, poets and poets have chanted Fu, and the records are recorded. Up to now, the brick walls of the castle are sparse, the remains of the ancient villages are still there, and the ancient houses seem to be the same. The style of "Jinghan" has spread, and the post roads are inlaid with pebbles. It is a millennium old town.
In the early Ming Dynasty, Meicheng, where the town government is located, was famous for its "plum planting" and "plum loving Pavilion". The brick city was built in 1565.

Tongqu town is rich in mountain forest resources, with 103500 Mu closed for afforestation, mainly pine, fir and bamboo, and 5194 Mu fruit planting area, mainly mixed plum, chestnut and persimmon. Songtang reservoir, zhangmakeng reservoir and three hydropower stations of Longshui, foziao and Guangfu are built. The shallow groundwater flow in daimaoshan and xianzizhang is considerable and pollution-free. They are to be developed and utilized as drinking water. There are abundant high-quality limestone in the area for several kilometers, cement limestone for firing high-grade cement, and pure white limestone for producing various types of stone powder.

The town covers an area of 18 298 mu, mainly planting rice, sweet potato, soybeans, peanuts and other crops. Wangmao village is famous for its sugarcane, radish, ginger and hawksbill chrysanthemum. The water surface area of the town is 1773 mu, and the fish farming industry develops rapidly. There are red brick factory, lime factory, building material factory, firecracker factory, cylinder tile kiln factory, storage battery factory, health food factory, oil press factory, agricultural products processing factory, rosin factory, petroleum gas storage and distribution station, knitting factory, etc. In 2004, the total social output value of the town reached 126 million yuan, including 52.43 million yuan of agricultural output value, 32.45 million yuan of industrial output value and 3628 yuan of per capita income.
infrastructure
The infrastructure in the town is perfect. The national highway 205 runs across the north of the town, the county road Tanniu line runs across the northeast, the Niuhe line runs through the north and south, and the Mayuan line runs through the south. All 17 villages have been connected with highways, and the trunk lines and village roads crisscross each other, forming a traffic network. The Hemei (Heyuan Meizhou) Expressway, which has been opened to traffic, runs close to the town, and interchanges are set up in the town. It is 14 kilometers away from the county, Longchuan marshalling station of Beijing Kowloon Railway, and Longchuan marshalling station of Guangzhou Meishan railway Sichuan station is only 17 km. The town has opened the program-controlled telephone in 1994. China Mobile and China Unicom cover the whole town, and the Internet has been opened. There is a 110000 volt ampere power transmission and transformation station in the neighboring town, which has sufficient power and normal supply. The tap water of Daimao mountain is stored in a reservoir built on the mountain, which has no pollution, sufficient water quantity, good water quality and normal water supply.
In the past 20 years, the old streets have been renovated, two new streets have been built, agricultural markets, cultural stations, telecommunication buildings, financial and trade buildings have been added, and cement pavement has been laid. The appearance of the city has taken on a new look. The cable TV network covers the whole town. There are more than 200 shops, becoming the political, economic and cultural center of the town.
Education status
The thoroughfare is known as the "hometown of culture". There are 2 junior middle schools and 16 primary schools with 5885 students. Tongqu middle school, Jingui middle school and two primary schools (Central Primary School and Huacheng primary school) were all rated as "municipal primary and secondary schools". In 1997, it was awarded the advanced unit of "popularizing nine-year compulsory education and eliminating illiteracy in the middle-aged" by the Guangdong provincial government. In 1998, it was awarded the advanced unit of "respecting teachers and valuing education" by five units including the Provincial Department of education and the Department of higher education.
There are two middle schools in this town, one is Jingui middle school and the other is Tongqu middle school. Originally, there was a university. Heyuan vocational and technical college in Heyuan was a military school in Tongqu town before, and later moved to Heyuan City. Originally, there were two towns, one called Jingui town and the other called Tongqu Town, but they were merged into Tongqu town around 2000.
