Shalingzi town is located in the southwest of Economic Development Zone, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It covers an area of 32.66 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 27053 (2017). It has jurisdiction over six administrative villages. The town government is located in Erliban village. Beijing Baotou railway, 110 National Road transit.

Shalingzi commune was established in 1958, township was established in 1983, and town was changed in 1985. In 1997, with an area of 41.4 square kilometers and a population of 23000, it has jurisdiction over six administrative villages including shalingzi, Erliban, taishiwan, qujiazhuang, shashanfang, nanxingqu village and a market management committee (shalingzi market). Originally Xuanhua County, Xuanhua county was abolished in 2016, and shalingzi town and yaojiafang town of Xuanhua county were put under the jurisdiction of Qiaoxi District of Zhangjiakou City. In November 2017, it was under the jurisdiction of Zhangjiakou economic development zone.
