Wengcheng town

WengCheng Town, belonging to Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the west of Wengyuan County, the south of Shaoguan City, Guandu town in the south, Hengshishui town in Yingde City in the West and Xinjiang town in the north. The administrative area is 137.19 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, 37351 households in Weng Town had registered residence. As of June 2020, Wengcheng has jurisdiction over one community and 17 administrative villages.

By 2015, Wengcheng has achieved a GDP of 1.82 billion yuan, fixed asset investment of more than 56 million yuan, fiscal revenue of more than 76 million yuan, and per capita net income of farmers of 10277 yuan. Among them, the added value of the primary industry, the secondary industry and the tertiary industry increased by 7.1%, 22.9% and 17.5% respectively, and the ratio of the three major industries was adjusted from 40.8:17.3:41.9 at the end of 2011 to 32.8:29.4:37.7.

Historical evolution

Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty, Zhao Guangyi, moved the county government to the North Erli of WengCheng Town, which is now Quanling village.

In the fifth year of Dade in Yuan Dynasty, the county government moved back from zhenduncheng to gaolixia, which is now Quanling village.

In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368), Wengyuan County was restored to censhui County, which was under the jurisdiction of Yingzhou. The county government was located in the lower part of Wengcheng Gaoling. In the second half of the year, censhui county was restored to Wengyuan County, which was under the jurisdiction of Shaozhou.

On September 3, 1939, more than 30 Japanese planes bombed Weng Town in turn, leaving the beautiful ancient city in ruins. Then, the county government moved to Zhan Gong Temple (shangmiao) and moved to Huangdong.

In 1940, the county government moved to Longxian.

In 1947, the government of the Republic of China of Guangdong Province officially confirmed Longxian as the county government.

The main rivers in Wengcheng town are Hengshishui River, bogongmiao River, luocaoba River, yamapi River, moling River, etc. There are five reservoirs in the town, the largest of which is quankeng reservoir, with a storage capacity of 12.7 million cubic meters.
