Dapingtang town is located in the south of Hunan Province, with a population of 18970 (2017), covering an area of 78.66 square kilometers. In 2014, dapingtang township was abolished and dapingtang town was established. In 2015, with the approval of Hunan Provincial People's government and Yongzhou Municipal People's government, Xintian County's township administrative division adjustment plan decided to withdraw zhishiping Township, merge all 17 villages under the jurisdiction of yuanzhishiping Township into dapingtang Town, and the town people's Government stationed in zhishiping (the resident of yuanzhishiping Township People's government).
