Maozhu town

Maozhu Town, belonging to Qiyang County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, is located in the northwest of the central part of Qiyang County, 11 kilometers away from the county. The total area of the town is 92.1 square kilometers (2017), with 1542 hectares of cultivated land and 23438 people (2017).

Maozhu town was selected into the list of strong agricultural towns in 2018.

It is adjacent to Guanyintan town and Wuxi town in the East, sankoutang town in the south, Lengshuitan District in the west, dachundian town and Wuxi town in the north. The town government is located in Maozhu village, with jurisdiction over 29 villages including Maozhu, caiya, quantang, Zhushan, Banqiao, Datang, Zhanjia, Daotang, Guanghua, daling, Shengsheng, Dishui, yangsiqiao, laoyashan, pipa, Yinjia, Chayuan, Xiangjia, Xiaojia, laoshanwan, zhoutang, Rongsi, Jiqing, Huangfu, Santang, Sanfang, Tanping, Fuli, Fulian and 2 neighborhood committees including dengjiayuan and Qingshuitang. the town uses the natural place name of Maozhu. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the first district; in 1961, when the people's commune was transformed, three people's communes, namely maozhushan, zhoutang and Dishui, were set up; in January 1986, zhoutang township was withdrawn and 10 villages were assigned to Maozhu Township, with Maozhu Township and Dishui Township set up; in 1995, Guanyintan district was withdrawn and Guanyintan and Maozhu town were established, with Dishui Township and Maozhu Township merged into Maozhu town. It is the west gate of Qiyang. National Highway 322, S320 and Qingda highway run through the whole town. Xiangjiang River flows around the town and is navigable all the year round. The town is an important grain production area, and also a key production area of trees, oranges, watermelons and vegetables. The mountain forest covers an area of 84000 mu, mainly Camellia oleifera forest, known as the "hometown of Camellia oleifera". Township enterprises and business economy account for a large proportion of the town's economy, with an annual GDP of 97 million yuan and an annual fiscal revenue of 2.66 million yuan.
