Dafu town is a millennium old town with beautiful mountains and profound cultural heritage. It belongs to Anhua County, Yiyang City, Hunan Province, and is located in the southeast mountainous area of Anhua County. It is adjacent to Meishan Buddhist culture scenic spot, xiangzikou Town, Ningxiang city and Songmutang Town, Taojiang County. It is located in the eastern border of Anhua in central Hunan, the northern section of Furong mountains and the middle reaches of Yixi river. With an average altitude of 135 meters, the town has a total area of 317.23 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 73477 people (2017). It governs 33 villages and 6 communities (2020).

General situation of the town

Dafu town is located in the southeast of Anhua County, the northern part of Furong mountain range and the middle reaches of Yixi river. It is adjacent to Ningxiang city's Xishan Buddhist culture scenic spot, Ningxiang city's xiangzikou town and Taojiang County's Songmutang town. Dafu town and its vicinity are commonly known as "dafuping". Dafu town is the agricultural and sideline products distribution center of Yixi River Basin in Anhua County, less than 100km away from large and medium-sized cities such as Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Yiyang and Changde, It is adjacent to ER Guang expressway, 207 National Road and other main traffic trunk lines, 80km away from Yiyang railway station. At the same time, Dafu town is located at the junction of Anhua, Taojiang and Ningxiang, which has advantages and potential in inter County trade. The territory is mainly mountainous, with an average altitude of 135 meters. Nearby the town is a valley with an altitude of about 300 meters, covering an area of more than 500 hectares. It is the second largest flat land in Anhua County, next only to Taipingyu (now belonging to qingtangpu town). It is high in the East and West, with a long Yixi River Valley in the middle. In the beautiful mountains and rivers of Xiaoxiang, Dafu is the "proud son" of Furong mountains and the "pearl in the palm" of Yixi river. In December 2005, Dongshan Township, Xinqiaojian town Experimental Zone and Dafu town were merged to establish a new Dafu town. The people's Government of Dafu town has four offices, one office and five administrative districts. Namely: Party and government comprehensive office, economic development office, population and family planning office, civil affairs and labor security office, finance office; Wenhe District, Dafu District, Mukong District, Xinqiao District, Dongshan District. In 2008, 48 administrative villages, 970 villager groups, 22671 agricultural households and 3 community neighborhood committees were formed. In March 2016, Dafu town carried out the second round of village level administrative division adjustment, merging 12 villages and forming 36 administrative villages and 3 community neighborhood committees. On October 19, 2020, Anhua County People's Government approved the establishment of Dafu Town Central Community Residents Committee, Xinqiao community residents committee and Fumin community residents committee. Dafu town from the original three communities to six communities. The central community consists of Dengzhan village, Zhoumei village and ruandong village. Xinqiao community is a combination of the former Xinqiao village and Yongshan village. Fumin community is a combination of Fuhu village, Jiangzhong village and Shijia village. Dafu town has a total population of 73477 (in 2017). The total area of the town is 317.23 square kilometers (2017), with 45114 mu of arable land and 363861 mu of forest land, including 292341 mu of forest land, 21983 mu of shrub land and 49537 mu of other forest land. In 2010, the gross domestic product (GDP) was 231 million yuan, the total fiscal revenue was 16.636 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 1855 yuan.

Dafu town has built an urban system with the north and south areas of dafuping as the center and four small market towns of Dongshan, Xinqiao, Mukong and Wenhe as the secondary centers. The service scope mainly includes wholesale and retail of goods, catering, hotels, home appliances maintenance, automobile maintenance, construction, home clothing, transportation, advertising services and other industries. The annual total retail sales of social consumer goods is about 2 billion yuan. The distinctive characteristics of service-oriented industry are "Vocational and technical education service", "orthopedic and traumatology medical technology service", "legal service", "characteristic agricultural and sideline products supply and demand service". After the founding of new China, especially since the reform and opening up, the town construction and other infrastructure construction of Dafu town have developed rapidly. Dafuping is a small town system with South and North districts as the center and four small market towns of Dongshan, Xinqiao, Mukong and Wenhe as the sub centers. The built-up area of the central urban area is 2.35 square kilometers, and four 3800 meter commercial streets have been built. The permanent resident population (including four small market towns) is 35000, and the urbanization rate is 35%. The main traffic arteries in the town include Changgao highway, Xianda highway, Dabai highway (to Songmutang Town, Taojiang County), Xinji highway (to Meishan, Ningxiang city) and Dongxiang highway (to xiangzikou, Ningxiang city). 230 kilometers of village roads have been hardened, and the traffic network has been initially formed. 35KVA substation has been built, and urban and rural power grid transformation has been basically completed. Dafu town has a long history. After archaeological excavation, a Neolithic site was found in tianjiali, Yinxin village near the town. It was identified that human beings had been living here for more than 4000 years. From the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period to the establishment of Anhua County in 1072, Dafu belonged to the category of "Meishan culture". According to Yiyang Prefecture annals and Anhua county annals, it was under the jurisdiction of Chu for a long time. The local folk cultural activities such as "burning Pagoda in Mid Autumn Festival", "Dafu Leicha", "Dafu shrimp dance" and "Tan Jifa cake" have been declared as intangible cultural heritage. The main cultural relics in Dafu town include Anning ancient road, Dongjiang spring and Autumn Warring States cultural site, Dafu stone arch bridge (built in 1810 and completely preserved), Sanxing pagoda, Mukong Dayao earth pagoda (burning character pagoda), former residence and Tomb of luohuandian (senior member of Yipin in Qing Dynasty), tomb of Huang Guoxu (leader of peasant uprising in Qing Dynasty), Xinqiao Fengyu bridge (2), Fengxing Fengyu bridge and zhemu Xiashi Zong Temple, Xiao Kai cemetery, etc. Dafu natural scenic spot and tourism development projects include Xiangshui cave drifting, Fuwang mountain flower appreciation, Dayao earth pagoda, Chama ancient road stone road, Xiaoyao Xiaokai cemetery, millennium old male and Female Ginkgo trees, Tianmao mountain (missionaries in Switzerland and Norway built summer resort during the period of the Republic of China), Furong mountain (one of the old "Anhua ten sceneries" Fuling Chaoyun), dalun'an waterfall, etc.

With the mission of "supporting local self-confidence, protecting local culture, condensing local identity, and promoting local development", they respect the subjectivity of local people, strive to explore local experience, make full use of local human, intellectual and other resources, and focus on information dissemination We should integrate means, select local community projects that are grounded, promote the cooperation among government, public welfare, village community organizations and local residents, improve the quality of public life, and promote the sustainable development of Dafu. At the same time, the association infuses modern working principles and adheres to democratic decision-making, standardized governance, transparency, public trust, openness and inclusiveness. Dafu Aixiang Association pursues the wisdom of ancestors who are enthusiastic about local affairs, cultivates the subject consciousness of rural construction, learns the professional experience of modern management, and contributes all these to the developing hometown Dafu. Dafu Aixiang association has carried out a series of local public welfare activities based on Dafu, mainly including "little summer camp" focusing on left behind children, publicizing the public welfare calendar of hometown, aiding poor children's aid action, introducing domestic public welfare resources into hometown's "happy kitchen" project and college students' supporting education activities, and a series of activities of excavating local traditional culture.
