Shenliu town

Shenliu town (the new County site after the merger of Chengguan town and Anyou township) is the county site of Anxiang County, Changde City, Hunan Province.

Shenliu town is the political, economic and cultural center of the whole county. It is a new town that the county Party committee and the county government merged the former Anyou Township and the former Chengguan town in order to build dachengguan and promote the sound and rapid economic and social development of the county.

The town covers an area of 68.03 square kilometers (2017), with a cultivated area of 58169 mu. The town governs 5 administrative villages, 13 community neighborhood committees, 301 Village (neighborhood) groups, with 148185 people (in 2017), including 84130 non-agricultural population and 3840 party members. There are 103 industrial enterprises in the town, with GDP of 850 million yuan in 2008, local fiscal revenue of 18 million yuan, total industrial and agricultural output value of 1.137 billion yuan, and per capita net income of farmers of 3335 yuan.

At the beginning of the Republic of China, it was called Zhongxiang. In 1936, it was named Chengxiang town. In 1938, it was changed into a new town. Chengguan town was established in 1951 until September 2008. Anyou township is under the jurisdiction of Anxiang County, Changde City, Hunan Province. According to Zhili Lizhou annals, in the early years of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, there were embankments such as besieged city, Zhonghe, Banqiao and Luoyang. In the late Qing Dynasty, there were 45 small embankments, which were gradually merged. In the Republic of China, the county government named Anyou embankment and Anhu embankment. At the end of the Republic of China, it belonged to tumu and Huzhang townships. In the early days of liberation, it belonged to the first district. Jianjiadu, lujiadu, guanlinghu, xinkaikou, xilijie, zilongan, changlingzhou and other small townships were established. In 1956, Anyou township was named after the embankment. In 1951, it was under the first jurisdiction of the county. Anyou township was established in 1956. The commune was changed in 1958 and Anyou township was reestablished in 1984. In September 2008, Chengguan town and Anyou Township were merged into shenliu town. According to the annals of Anxiang County in the Northern Song Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan studied in the view of rejuvenating the country at stork harbor island in the northern suburb of the county. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan's study hall was rebuilt, with Yixue and hundreds of willows planted. It is called "shenliu academy", which is located in the current shenliu academy island. It's named shenliu town. The provincial highway S306 from Changde to Yueyang passes through here and is close to the East Branch of Songzi river. With a total land area of 68.03 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 148185 (2017), it is the political, economic and cultural center of the county.
