Baicang town

Baicang town is located in the southeast of Shaoyang County. National Highway 207 runs through the north and south. Luoyang Zhanjiang railway and Shaoyong Expressway pass through the town. Fuyi river is next to the town. Wufengpu and dashenqiao town of Dong'an County of Yongzhou City are connected in the East, Jincheng town in the west, Tangtian town in the South and huangtang Township in the north. It is known as the "South Gate" of Shaoyang County. The town terrain is high in the southeast and low in the northwest, with hills as the main landform. The town covers a total area of 140 square kilometers, with an urban area of 3 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 31 administrative villages, 2 community neighborhood committees, 700 villager groups, 83000 people and 41400 mu of arable land.

Baicang town belongs to Shaoyang County, Hunan Province. According to the county annals, it has been the place where merchants gathered in Baoqing, Xiangxiang, Xinhua and Qiyang since ancient times. The town has a total area of 140.27 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 72087 (2017). The town is one of the material distribution centers in the southwest of Shaoyang. With profound cultural heritage, stilts, face changing, dragon dance and lion dance are of high artistic level. In 1998, they were rated as the hometown of culture and art in Hunan Province.

On January 9, 2019, baicang town was selected as the "hometown of Chinese folk culture and art" in 2018-2020 by virtue of baicang stilts.

have a long history

It is said that there used to be a granary here, whose outer wall was whitewashed with lime. People called it white granary, and it became a place name for a long time. Baicangtun was set up in the Yuan Dynasty, baicangbao in the Ming Dynasty, also known as baicangsi. Baicangtuan was set up in the Qing Dynasty, with baicang city (see Baoqing official records of Daoguang). In 1949, when new China was founded, it belonged to Wugang Siwang township. In 1958, it was designated as Hongxing people's commune. In 1959, it was changed into baicang people's commune. In winter of 1983, it was changed into baicang township. In 1985, it was changed into township. In 1995, the former baicang town was merged with Qianqiu Township and Xinjian township to form a new baicang town.

Profound cultural heritage

In 1998, it was rated as "the hometown of culture and art in Hunan Province", with 15 performing groups and 20 entertainment places. Stilts, face changing, dragon dance and lion dance are of high artistic level. In 2008, it has applied to the state for the protection of "the hometown of Chinese folk stilt art" and "intangible cultural heritage". Face changing art has been invited to participate in the International Festival of happiness and longevity held in Guangxi and won praise from domestic and foreign audiences. Stilts have also been invited to perform in Guangdong, Hong Kong and other places for many times.

Obvious location advantage

The transportation is "four vertical and five horizontal". National Highway 207, Luoyang Zhanjiang railway, Shaoyong Expressway (ER Guang expressway or G55) and Tangqian highway run through the north and south. Longsheng, Beixin, Baisheng, Shuijin, Hehuang and other highways are interwoven. Every village has cement roads, so the traffic conditions are very convenient. Building materials City, business street, Jinfeng Road, Beiqi four development zones together, customers gathered, market prosperity, has become one of the southwest Shaoyang material distribution center. 207 national road starts from Xilinhot City, Inner Mongolia, and ends at Hai'an town, Xuwen County, Guangdong, with a total length of 3738 km. At present, the section from baicang to Xinning has been transformed into a special tourist line to Langshan, Xinning, a world heritage site. The hardened part of the road is 10.5 meters wide and expanded according to the standard of class II Highway. The whole line of Luoyang Zhanjiang railway was opened to traffic on July 1, 2009, which marks the smooth realization of the construction of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" railway network, and also marks the official opening of the last "one vertical" of China's "eight vertical". There are Tangdukou station and baicang station in Shaoyang County of Luoyang Zhanjiang railway, among which baicang station is a passenger and freight station. Shaoyong expressway, a part of Er Guang expressway, starts from Erlianhot in Inner Mongolia and ends at Guangzhou in Guangdong, also known as G55 expressway. It was founded on May 14, 2006 and officially opened to traffic on November 30, 2009. Shaoyong expressway is also equipped with baicang interchange (baicang toll station). The access of State Road No. 207, Luoyang Zhanjiang railway and ER Guang Expressway indicates that baicang town has been integrated into the modern traffic circle and has the potential for rapid development.

The agricultural economy is developed

According to the market information and the traditional habits of the town, efforts should be made to promote the scale and grade of the seven major industries of "flue-cured tobacco, seed production, chive, fruit, vegetable, pig and medicine", and strive to build the brands of "Sanmen vegetable, Tanwan chive, yingfengnaili and Shilong orange". With Jingyang, Guanzhu, Yingfeng, Sandui and other villages as the focus, a golden economic belt has been formed to develop 3000 mu of flue-cured tobacco production; with Qianqiu, Shahe, Baiyun, Wawu and xialiang as the focus, 1532 pig farms and 5 farmers with more than 100 heads have been developed; with Tanwan, Yingfeng and Jingyang as the main villages, 2600 mu of chive planting base has been developed; with Sanmen and Shishan as the main villages, More than 2000 mu of pollution-free vegetable base will be developed; more than 2000 mu of fine fruit base will be developed with Yingfeng, Jingyang, Shilong and other villages as the focus, especially the 250 Mu high-quality citrus base in Shilong village, which is the only new citrus variety demonstration base in the city.

Baicang town has 132 private enterprises, 10 large-scale industrial enterprises, 8 private enterprises with an annual output value of more than 1 million yuan, 4 enterprises with an annual output value of more than 2 million yuan, 2 enterprises with an annual output value of more than 5 million yuan, and 2 enterprises with an annual output value of more than 10 million yuan. Tanwan Industrial Park, located in Tanwan village of baicang Town, is 300 meters away from 207 National Road, with a plant area of 45000 square meters. It has a 3000 cubic meter reservoir, convenient transportation and water use. There are 8 industrial enterprises and more than 300 employees in the park. Among them, there are 4 large-scale industrial enterprises, including Beida ferroalloy plant, Hongzheng pharmaceutical raw material plant, Shaoyang No.1 paper mill and Baocang steel ball plant. The town government has set up the Management Committee of the industrial park, with the main leader of the town Party government as the director of the management committee. The town enterprise office is specifically responsible for the management and service, arranges full-time personnel to manage and maintain the public facilities of the park, such as water, electricity, roads, and so on, and implements listing and key protection for the enterprises in the park. In 2007, the total industrial output value of the town was 368 million yuan.

Urban construction is changing with each passing day

The "small town expansion project" has been rapidly promoted, and 20 million yuan has been introduced to start the construction of four districts, namely building materials City, business street, Jinfeng Road and Beiqi station. The construction of a comprehensive agricultural market covering an area of 8000 square meters has been completed, and the main street with a total length of more than 4000 meters has been hardened, afforested and beautified. The urban area has expanded by 2 square kilometers, and a new town with perfect infrastructure, complete service functions and standardized market management has taken shape.

There are many scenic spots

Within the territory of Siwang mountain, the highest elevation is 844.8 meters. Climbing on the four peaks and overlooking the mountains, you can feel the feeling of "climbing to the top and seeing all the small mountains".
