Shuidongjiang town

Shuidongjiang town is located at the junction of hengshaolou, in the east of Shaodong city and 36 km away from the county in the northwest. It governs 51 villages and 1 neighborhood committee (after the merger, it governs 21 administrative villages and 1 community). It covers an area of 98.7 square kilometers and has a population of 52000. It is adjacent to Tuanshan town in the north, in front of nanyibao, Yangqiao and shetianqiao in the west, and Jinlan town in Hengyang County in the East. Taiping Bridge is located in Shuidong neighborhood committee of shuidongjiang Town, across the steaming River, which is an important channel of shuidongjiang town. The bridge was built on the ninth day of September in the 13th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty. It was originally a five hole bridge. After years of repair and transformation, it has become a eight hole bridge. There are dragon, Phoenix, unicorn and other mascots carved at the head and side of the bridge. There are a pair of lifelike stone lions at both ends of the bridge. After 100 years of wind and rain, the stone lions still stand tall and upright. Local residents have great feelings for the Taiping Bridge, especially for the four stone lions at the head of the bridge. Every year, large-scale sacrificial activities are held on the bridge on the seventh day of July. In 1997, Taipingqiao was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit by the county people's government.
