Tiaoma town is located in the core area of Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan "two oriented society" comprehensive reform experimental area, and in the hilly area of the south of Yuhua District, Changsha City, Hunan Province.

Tiaoma town has a population of 73204 (2017), an area of 176.96 square kilometers (2017), and a fiscal revenue of 24 million yuan in 2013.

Tiaoma town was originally under the jurisdiction of Changsha County, and was incorporated into Yuhua District on January 14, 2015.

Tiaoma town is 10 kilometers away from Changsha City in the north, 12 kilometers away from Zhuzhou City in the South and 18 kilometers away from Xiangtan City in the southwest. Tiaoma town is adjacent to Baijia Town of Liuyang City and Yuntian town of Zhuzhou City in the East, longtoupu Town, hetangpu town and Baima town of Zhuzhou City in the south, Zhaoshan township of Xiangtan City and Muyun street of Tianxin District of Changsha City in the west, dongjingpu town of Yuhua District of Changsha City and Huangxing Town of Changsha County in the north.
