Longping Township
Longping township is located in Wushan mountain in the northeast of Jianshi County. It spans 110 ° 09 ′ E and 30 ° 48 ′ n. It is adjacent to Badong in the East, Gaoping in the south, Maotian in the West and Wushan County in Chongqing in the north. It covers an area of 229.86 square kilometers and is high in the West and low in the East.
The township governs 28 administrative villages and 1 community, 267 villager groups, and 22574 people (2017).
Historical evolution
Longping has been under the jurisdiction of Jianshi County since it was reformed. In 1918, Longping was under the jurisdiction of Jianshi County. There were 10 districts of "benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, faith, kindness, courtesy, thrift and yield". In 1935, Longping was under the jurisdiction of Changliang district. In 1936, Longping was a township under the jurisdiction of Jianshi County. In 1943, Longping was a township in Maotian District, with 10 Baojia and 168 Jiajia. On November 6, 1949, after the people's Government of Jianshi County was established, Longping belonged to the Township under the jurisdiction of Maotian district. In 1950, the 10 boroughs in Longping were changed into 10 administrative villages, still under the jurisdiction of Maotian district. From 1953 to 1955, Longping established 15 townships, abolished administrative villages, and governed 350 mutual aid groups. During this period, one agricultural cooperative was established in 1954 and developed to 10 in 1955. In 1956, 35 agricultural cooperatives were established, including one senior cooperative. In 1957, eight townships were established, with 36 production teams and 218 production teams under its jurisdiction. In 1958, Longping and Gaoping were merged into Gaolong commune. Longping had nine management areas, 31 production teams and 128 production teams. From 1959 to March 1975, the nine administrative districts were changed into nine people's communes under the jurisdiction of the district. The number of production teams was increased from 128 to 210. In February 1964, the production teams were merged into 186. In April 1975, three people's communes, Longping, Yangping and Shenyou, were set up in Longping county. Ronghe commune in Gaoping was assigned to Shenyou commune, Dahong brigade in Liulin commune and Hexing brigade in Yangping commune were assigned to Qinghua commune. Longping, Yangping and Shenyou people's communes have 28 production teams and 186 production teams. In July 1984, zheshe district was established. The original Longping, Yangping and Shenyou people's communes were merged into Longping District, and nine township (town) people's governments, including longtanping, Guanghe, zhashuping, Liulin, qiqipeng, shenyouping, Xiaoya, huajiaoyuan and Yulan, were under the jurisdiction of Longping district. A district market town was established, and the three production teams within the scope of the market town were transferred from the former agricultural science team to xujiawan village . In November 1996, Longping district was abolished and Longping Township People's government was established. The original nine township (town) people's governments were changed into nine administrative areas, and zhashuping market town was incorporated into the town. In July 1997, yulanping and huangjintan villages in yulanping management area were merged into longtanping management area. The township has 8 management areas, 30 village committees and 267 village groups. In April 2002, eight administrative areas were abolished and three offices, longtanping, zhashuping and shenyouping, were set up. In November 2002, the neighborhood committee, Longtan Village and xujiawan village were merged into longtanping village, and 30 administrative villages in the township were turned into 28 administrative villages.

Longping township is located in the northeast corner of Jianshi County, crossing 110 ° 09 ′ E and 30 ° 48 ′ n. It faces Gaoping across Shizhu River and Shimen River in the south, Maotian in the West and Wushan County in Chongqing in the north. National Road 209 passes through seven villages and two towns, Longtan and zhashuping. It is 63km away from Badong port and 82km away from Yezhou town via national road 209. Zhahong and zhawu highways pass through zhashuping Town, 19km away from longtanping Town, 28km south to National Road 318, and northward to Wushan County, Chongqing.

Covering an area of 229.86 square kilometers, the land map of the township is shaped like a carp swimming towards the Yangtze River. The whole territory belongs to Wushan mountain range. The mountain ranges are crisscross, and the height of the mountain peaks gradually decreases from northwest to Southeast. There are many obstacles, ravines, troughs, terraces and slopes in the territory. Jianfeng mountain, the highest point in the northwest, is 1882 meters above sea level, and the river below the lowest point in the southeast is 800 meters above sea level, with an altitude difference of more than 1000 meters. due to the crisscross existence of gullies, troughs, drips and slopes in the surface structure of the whole area, about 35% of the total cultivated land is cultivated on slopes greater than 25 degrees. There are mainly two types of cultivated land: one is the cold air gray field in the high mountain area with poor soil fertility, and the other is the large soil field in the two high mountain area with slightly stronger soil fertility.

The annual average temperature is 14 ℃, the annual average rainfall is 1400-1600 mm, and the frost free period is about 200 days. It is commonly known as "cloudy and foggy in Longping since ancient times".

Hydropower resources
The main rivers in the territory are Lengshui River and Zhihong river. Lengshui river originates from longdongzi at the junction of tiechangba and xiaoyazi, flows through Xiahe River and Maorong River and flows into Yesanhe river. Zhihong river originates from Houzi cave at the junction of liaojianping and wacaping, flows through Maling River and flows into Baolong River in Chongqing. The two rivers have developed and built four power stations with an installed capacity of 1184 kW.
mineral resources
There are 8 kinds of proven mineral resources, including coal, iron, sulfur, selenium, lead, refractory, black marble and limestone. Pyrite is mainly distributed in shibage area, with reserves of 32 million tons. When the iron and steel industry and people's commune were established in 1958, the enterprises run by the commune carried out large-scale mining. The coal reserves of the township reach 82 million tons, with the focus on tiechangba, Wujiawan, mochanggou, Yangjiacao, heiyanbao, yinyangcao and Jiangjiagou. The anthracite produced by Liulin coal mine is a well-known high-quality coal.

There are many tourist attractions that can be developed in the territory, such as Jiangjiaping, jianzikou, shirenping, changlinggang forest area, shibage, gushuya, etc. Jiangjiaping is located in the upper reaches of the famous scenic spot Gehe River, 2.9 kilometers northwest of longtanping market town. There are many stone pillars and hills in this place. It is said that when you look down from the air, the stone pillars and hills are like pieces on a chessboard. Shibage is located on the side of "Denggao" highway about 5 kilometers south of zhashuping market town, covering an area of about 1000 square meters. Numerous stone peaks here form 18 lattices. If you don't count the lattices according to the direction and order, you can only count 17 lattices. It is said that it adds a lot of mystery to the stone peak. Gushuya is 2 kilometers south of longtanping market town. There are two tall and strong Chinese Liriodendron trees on both sides of the "Longshen" highway. The trees are more than 380 years old. They are 31 meters high and 1.44 meters in diameter at breast height. The words "gushuya" can be seen vaguely on one of the tree trunks. It is said that when the second army of Chen Cheng of the Kuomintang was stationed in Longping, someone chiseled them with a chisel.

Agricultural efficiency has been improved. The production area of flue-cured tobacco in the township was stable, and the income increased. In 2003, 7442 mu of flue-cured tobacco was planted, and in 2004, 6143 mu of flue-cured tobacco was planted. The development of off-season vegetables in the township has reached 5000 mu, with an income of 5 million yuan. The processing and proliferation of genuine Chinese herbal medicine has begun to take shape. The area of herbal medicine in the township has reached 18000 mu, with an output value of 15 million yuan. From 2003 to 2004, a total of 190000 mu of land was closed for afforestation, and 4955.9 mu of land was converted to forest. Animal husbandry shows a restorative development trend. The township seizes the opportunity of highway and railway construction, vigorously develops pig production, and achieves a total output value of 21.51 million yuan.
Industry
The industrial economy is developing rapidly. With the goal of "integration of resources, expansion of scale and improvement of comprehensive benefits", the township has opened up the mountain gate to attract investment, and the industrial economy mainly focusing on coal mining and processing has developed rapidly. From 2003 to 2004, a total of 30 million yuan was introduced to build 15 coal mines with an annual output of more than 20000 tons of raw coal and a processing plant with an annual output of 100000 tons of granular coal. By 2004, the added value of the coal industry will be 23 million yuan, providing 3.4 million yuan of taxes, including 2.4 million yuan of taxes.
