Shutan town
Shutan Town, subordinate to suixian County, Suizhou City, Hubei Province, is located in the southwest of Suizhou. It is adjacent to Anju in the East, Hongshan in the south, Wangcheng town in Zaoyang City in the West and Tangxian town in the north. The town is 32 km away from Suizhou City and 50 km away from Dahongshan (Forest Park), a national scenic spot. Yunshui river passes through the town. The whole town covers an area of 434.06 square kilometers (2017), belonging to hilly and valley area; it has jurisdiction over 32 Village (neighborhood) committees with 53178 people (2017). Before liberation, when the water transportation was prosperous, all the goods were distributed in this area and went down the river to Hankou, known as "little Hankou". In recent three years, the comprehensive economic strength of Zengdu District ranks among the top ten, and it is one of the provincial "central towns" and "rural industrial parks" in Hubei Province.
In October 2005, the "Han Shi" expressway runs through the north and south, passing through 11 villages in the town, with a total length of 19.5 km. There is a service area of 200 mu in the town, which is only 4 km away from the opening of the expressway. With the South (Suizhou - Nanzhang) provincial road across the East and West, drive 32 kilometers, you can enter 316 National Highway and Han Dan railway. In 1955, it belonged to Yuntan District of Suiyang County. In 1975, it was changed to Yunyang commune, and in 1987, it was established as a township. Located in the northwest of the town, about 10 kilometers away from the town, there is a famous temple "Guanyin nunnery". It is composed of a natural stone cave, which can accommodate hundreds of people. There are traces of artificial excavation in it. The age is no longer verifiable. Beautiful and moving folk tales with a long history are handed down in the world. Among them, there are many statues of Buddha, such as Guanyin. Every year, February 15 of the lunar calendar is the "temple fair". Thousands of people come to visit the temple fair. There is a Guanyin hall in xiaoshizi street of the town, which was rebuilt in the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 200 years. Every Spring Festival, the evening drum and morning bell, the cigarette curl, and visitors are like weaving. the Catholic Church in liaojiazhai village was built in the middle of the 19th century, covering an area of about 15 mu. The classical European architecture is simple and elegant, and it is still presided over by a priest. Historical changes
In history, Huantan is the location of the inspection department of Meiqiu and the office of the third Commissioner of Hubei Province. Tao Zhu, Yu Yi'an, Chen Xiushan and other revolutionaries of the older generation have left brilliant footprints on this land. In December 1947, Huantan area was liberated. Hongshan county set up Huantan city (soon changed to Huantan town) here, with three streets under it. In Fuyuan temple, Yunyang district was set up to govern today's Yunyang and Dashan townships and several villages in Wenchang street. In January 1948, SuiZao county Party committee was formally established in Liaozhai. In March of the same year, Huantan district was established, which has jurisdiction over Liaozhai, Dabei and xumiao, several villages in Yushi street, Anju, Xinjie and Tangzhen. In May 1949, Huanbei district was divided into Tang town and Anju district. Today, Hewu Township and huanglin village in Chezhan Street are under the jurisdiction of Kuifeng district (Yaoshan District). Today, Zishan area of Zhongjia and Zaoyang county is under the jurisdiction of Shennong District of SuiZao county. The general situation is that two counties and five districts coexist.
