Renheping town is under the jurisdiction of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City, Hubei Province. It is named "Renhe" because "time is not as good as land, and land is not as good as people". Evolution of organizational system
On October 15, 1949, shengziping district government was established. In December 1952, it was expanded into two districts: shengziping and Renheping. In December 1955, it was merged into shengziping township. In August 1956, it was incorporated into the yuyangguan district. in September 1958, Renheping commune was established by withdrawing the commune and separating it from yuyangguan district. from 1961 to 1978, Renheping commune was renamed Renheping district. The district administers two communes, Renheping and shengziping. From May 1966 to March 1967, the district administers five communes. in January 1979, the whole town was divided into two communes. In July 1984, the district was set up to build townships, the people's commune system was abolished, and six townships were under the jurisdiction of the district. In July 1985, Renheping district was renamed Renheping Town, which governs five townships. In 1987, the system of small towns was abolished and merged into large towns, with one town and one Township, Renheping town and shengziping town. In 1996, the township system was reformed and merged, from shengziping Township and Renheping town to new Renheping town.

The dam is a masonry gravity dam with a height of 15.1 meters, a drainage area of 143.9 cubic kilometers and an average annual runoff of 176.63 million cubic meters.
