GUOJIABA Town, belonging to Zigui County, Yichang City, Hubei Province, is located in the South Bank of the Yangtze River, on the Bank of Xiling Gorge. It is located in the middle of Zigui County, backed by BINGSHU Baojian gorge. It is a big immigrant town in the Three Gorges Reservoir area and one of the 200 central towns in Hubei Province. The town covers an area of 313 square kilometers, with cultivated land of 45100 mu. It has jurisdiction over 20 villages, including buzhuanghe, Toudaohe, yandengbao, huangkouping, Baiyunshan, Guojiaba, Wangjialing, tongshuwan, Niuling, Baiyangping, xiongjialing, bairichang, Wenhua, fuzitou, wenjiayan, Xipo, Miaoya, Luojiaping, chuwangjing, leigutai and dengjiapo, with a total population of 50350 (2017) Among them, the urban population is 4087. At present, the area of Citrus (navel orange) is 35000 mu, the output is 34400 tons, and the output value is more than 52 million yuan. With mild climate, abundant rainfall, sufficient light and fertile soil, it is the most suitable area for the development of citrus; its unique location advantages have established the position of Zigui sub center, and the pillar industry of scale operation has laid the foundation of "China's big navel orange town". The development of Citrus in Guojiaba town has been on a large scale in the early 1990s. In 1996, Guojiaba town was named as the "big town of citrus production" by the municipal Party committee and the municipal government. The industrial benefits began to show, and the citrus farmers' awareness of science and technology and market began to awaken. Since 1996, the development of Citrus in this town has highlighted the key points of industrialization, harmlessness and standardization construction, adhered to the market orientation, science and technology as the driving force, high yield, high quality, high efficiency and safety as the center, and took the realization of well-off society as the goal.

Development mode

By the end of 1995, the citrus area of the town was 11860 mu, with an output of 11233 tons. In horizontal comparison, the output and area are in the forefront of the county; in self comparison, the output has doubled and the area is stagnant. This fully shows that many citrus growers have mastered certain production techniques and tasted the sweetness of planting citrus, but the grain and citrus planting structure have not changed, and some of the farmers who are suitable for planting citrus still have the idea of "taking grain as the key link". In view of this situation, the first focus of Citrus industrialization construction in the town is to speed up the further turn of grain and citrus planting structure. We will vigorously implement the project of replacing water with dry land, replacing slopes with terraces, replacing grain with oranges, and eliminating empty fields for oranges. In order to meet the market demand and make the navel orange in an invincible position in the increasingly fierce market competition, the town vigorously promoted the citrus quality improvement work. In order to optimize the variety structure, we have highlighted the key points of replanting. In 1996-2000, we vigorously improved Newhall navel orange, and in 2001, we vigorously improved red flesh navel orange. Now, we have improved 8000 mu of Newhall navel orange and 3000 mu of red flesh navel orange. We have achieved the goal of "replanting in one year, restoring tree vigor in two years, and high yield in three years". In order to optimize the quality structure, we have promoted the quality improvement work of soil, fertilizer, medicine, tree, fruit, garden, water and management, which mainly includes changing soil, fertilizer, medicine, water and management. In order to produce pollution-free and green fruits, we start with production links, adopt harmless and standardized production technology, limit chemical fertilizers and highly toxic pesticides, use no or less hormones, promote organic fertilizers and biopesticides, install frequency vibrating insecticidal lamp, adopt key technologies such as grass covering, fruit bagging and biological control, so as to achieve the requirements of harmlessness and standardization. It is one of the five "pollution-free citrus production demonstration towns" in Yichang city.

Complete supporting infrastructure

With the rapid development of citrus production in GUOJIABA Town, the construction of supporting industrial facilities such as water, road, communication network and information is relatively backward, which seriously restricts the production and sales of citrus. Therefore, the town has increased construction and investment, and implemented various water diversion irrigation and water storage irrigation projects. In dengjiapo, tongshuwan, Guojiaba, Niuling and Wenhua villages, storage, diversion, lifting, spraying and drip irrigation projects have been built, which basically solved the problem of irrigation difficulty in the town.
