Baoxia Town, located in the southwest of Yunyang District, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, is a market town with a long history. It borders Shiyan City in the East, hujiaying town in the west, Zhushan and Zhuxi in the South and Wufeng Township in the north. It is an important border trade town in Yunyang District, Shiyan City. The territory has developed transportation, 316 national highway, Baozhu highway, Xiangyu railway are Y-shaped passing through the town, which has been the fortress of "military and business must contend" since ancient times. The town government is now located in group 3 of baojiadian village. The town has 25 administrative villages, 99 villager groups, 29878 people (in 2017), with a territory area of 387.56 square kilometers (in 2017).

Baoxia town is located on the South Bank of Hanjiang River. There are many peaks in the town. There are Canglang mountain in the South and enchanting mountain in the north. There are east-west and north-south river valleys between the two mountains. The highest peak is Canglang mountain, 1824.7 meters above sea level, nearly 200 meters higher than the towering Wudang Jinding. The whole town is located in the north subtropical zone where the temperature is excessive to the south. It has both the north and the south climate. The climate is mild, the average climate is humid, the rainfall is abundant, and the sunshine is sufficient. The average temperature is 16 ℃, the highest month (July) is 39 ℃, the lowest month (January) is minus 3 ℃, the average annual temperature difference is 23 ℃, the average annual rainfall is 1000 mm, the frost free period is 254 days, and the evaporation is 1750 mm.
Historical evolution
In 1985, a tomb of Jin Dynasty was found in Huayuan village, which proved that Baoxia town had been settled at least before Jin Dynasty. In 1948, Baoxia town was under the jurisdiction of Baihe County, Shaanxi Province, and in December 1949, it was under the jurisdiction of Yun County, Hubei Province, belonging to Baoxia district. In 1987, Baoxia district and baojiadian town were divided into Baoxia Town, hujiaying town and Donghe township. In April 2001, the administrative division was adjusted. Donghe township was transferred to Baoxia town and formed into a new town. The merged Baoxia town government is still located in the original site of group 3 of baojiadian village.
Infrastructure
The construction of market towns has begun to take shape. The construction of Baoxia market town started in 1994. By 1999, Baoxia commercial city was built, a small commodity wholesale center was formed, and a small flower and fruit "bamboo and wood Market Street" was built. More than 50 million yuan was invested in the construction of the market town, with a building area of 200000 square meters and a total population of more than 1500 people. Since 2000, Baoxia town has been listed as 200 central market towns in the whole province for planning and construction. Every year, a lot of manpower and material resources have been invested to upgrade the water, electricity, road, television, communication, sports, culture and other infrastructure in the town, which is gradually standardized and improved. The broadcasting industry has developed rapidly. Since 2000, more than 3 million yuan has been invested in the opening of CCTV. More than 80% of families in 22 villages in the town can receive and see more than 30 programs from more than 20 provinces and cities in China. There are 1 township hospital, 1 reproductive health care service center, 25 village clinics, and a sound primary health care network.
Educational facilities
Education is developing rapidly. There are 46 schools of various types in the town, including 3 junior middle schools, 9 Town Central Primary Schools and 34 village primary schools, with an investment of 3 million yuan in educational equipment.
Power facilities
The communication industry is advancing by leaps and bounds. There are 10 mobile and Unicom transfer stations and one PHS base station. There are telephone in every village. There are 7100 program-controlled telephone and village to village telephone in the whole town, and 9800 Unicom and mobile users.
The electric power industry is developing rapidly. Baoxia town has invested more than 5 million yuan since it was electrified in the 1970s to set up 270 kilometers of lines. All 25 villages and villages in the town have seen "light", with an annual power supply and consumption of 1 million kilowatt hours. In the work of "two reforms and one at the same price", the network reform of Baoxia town has reached 100%, and the people of the whole town have enjoyed the preferential policies of the national network reform.

Transportation development
By the end of 2006, the whole town has invested more than 5 million yuan to build and upgrade 25 village level highways, 260 km and 20 bridges, realizing the goal of "village to village" highway. National Highway 316, Baozhu highway and Xiangyu railway cross the town in a Y-shape, making the traffic of the town very developed. The passenger transportation in Baoxia is very convenient. In addition to the five regular trips to and from Yunyang District, there are more than 50 long and short distance buses from Yunxi, Zhushan, Zhuxi and Baihe to Shiyan, Xiangyang, Wuhan and Xi'an.
