Erqi street is the birthplace of the February 7th strike. It is named for commemorating the February 7th strike. It is located in the east of Jiangan District, adjacent to the Yangtze River in the East, zhaojiatiao in the West and Houhu street in the west, Huangpu street in the south, Yongqing street and Laodong street in Wuhan, and Erqi road in the north and Xincun street in the north, covering an area of 3.9 square kilometers. Erqi street is one of the streets with the largest population in the District, and it is also the key street inhabited by ethnic minorities in the city. There are 19 communities with 26444 households and 66391 permanent residents. There are 1386 ethnic minorities living in harmony in the area under its jurisdiction. It has been awarded the title of "advanced collective of national unity and progress" by the State Council. The military and civil relations are harmonious. They live in harmony and support each other with the Second Artillery Corps, leiyuan, kongyi, 161 hospital, Guangkong Wuhan Housing Management Bureau, Sanbu Liuju, Guangkong repair factory and other units. They are the "double support" model street in Wuhan. The religious and cultural characteristics are obvious, and there are two mosques, one is the holy land of Islam, the other is the holy land of Buddhism. Basic introduction
The Erqi Street Office of Jiang'an District People's Government (hereinafter referred to as the Erqi Street Office) is named in memory of the "Erqi strike". It is located in the east of Jiangan district. It is adjacent to the Yangtze River in the East, zhaojiatiao in the west, Houhu Township, Huangpu street in the south, Yongqing Street office and Laodong Street office in Wuhan, and Xincun Street office in Erqi road in the north. The street covers an area of 3.9 square kilometers. There are 26444 permanent households and 66391 permanent residents. There are 1386 people from 454 families of 12 ethnic minorities (Hui, man, Tu, Dong, Mongolia, Zhuang, Miao, Korean, Bai, Xibo, Buyi and Shui). Among them, there are 1290 Hui people in 398 households.
Erqi Street office is one of the streets with the largest population in the District, and it is also the key street where ethnic minorities live in concentrated communities in the city. In 1987, the street was divided into 31 neighborhood committees and 357 neighborhood groups. In 2000, it was divided into 20 community residents committees. In 2003, the two communities of Huagong and Weisan were merged, and there are 19 community neighborhood committees. There are five villages in Houhu Township, namely Erqi, Yonghong, Huangpu, Zhongsheng and Shenghua, where some of the villagers live together with the residents. Street office is located in No. 128, village 2, playground street. In October 1952, Fujian street people's government was established in the playground street to the east of Jiefang Avenue. In May 1954, the people's Government of Fukien Street abolished it and renamed it Fukien Street office. In 1958, part of the neighborhood committee of Yongqing Street office was merged into Fujian Street office. In May 1959, Xincun Street office was merged into Fujian Street office. In May 1960, it was changed into Erqi branch. In May 1961, it was abolished and divided into three street offices: Fukien street, Huangpu street and Xincun street. At the beginning of the cultural revolution in 1966, Fujian Street office was renamed Erqi Street office, and Huangpu Street office was renamed Kangda Street office. In September 1968, the revolutionary leading groups of erqijie and kangdajie were established respectively. In January 1971, Kangjie street was merged, in May of the same year, Erqi Street Revolutionary Committee was rebuilt, in September 1978, Erqi Street Revolutionary Committee was abolished, and Erqi Street office has been restored.
Historical origin
In the middle of the 19th century, after the establishment of the concession of Britain, Russia, France, Germany and Japan, Belgium tried to establish a concession in its jurisdiction, but it didn't come true. In 1906, when the Jinghan (Luhan) railway was built, in order to facilitate the transportation of road construction equipment by water, a wharf was built along the river bank, a river bank railway station and a river bank railway machinery factory were set up, and a large number of migrant workers were recruited. Since then, more and more residents have been living in the east of today's Jiefang Avenue. In the same year, a large number of Hui victims came to Hankou due to the continuous drought in Zhoukou area of Henan Province and the flooding of the Yellow River In the area of liujiamiao, the Hui people gathered together in communities where they lived by putting up sheds on wasteland, pulling rickshaws and carrying wharfs. In the 1930s, a large number of employed workers from Fujian, Anhui and Henan settled down here with their families. They successively formed Fujian street, Henan Street, SHANGZHENG street, Xiazheng street, toudao street, Erdao street, Sandao street and Sidao street Workers' families. To the west of the area is still a large area of vegetable fields and reservoirs, only Xinjian street, Huangjiadun street, weijiasangyuan street and playground street have a small number of farmers living. The construction of docks and railways gathered a large number of industrial workers here. They fought against imperialism and feudal warlords for freedom and human rights for a long time. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in February 1923, the railway workers took part in the "February 7th" strike against the rule of feudal warlords, which fully demonstrated the strength of solidarity of the working class.
Historical development
On July 16, 1951, the people's government tried Zhao Jixian, one of the main killers of the February 7th massacre, at the present February 7th memorial hall, and executed him where martyr Lin Xiangqian died at Jiangan railway station. In order to inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition of the February 7th revolutionary struggle, some place names and schools were named after "February 7th". After the liberation of Wuhan, great changes have taken place here. Changhang, railway and changban (Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission) have built a large number of office buildings and staff quarters here. The extension and widening of Jiefang Avenue, Huangpu Avenue and Erqi Road, the construction of science and Technology Museum Road, especially the completion and opening of the Second Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan in June 1995. It makes the area a transportation hub extending in all directions. The third floor overpass of Huangpu Road, the municipal supporting project of the Second Yangtze River Bridge, was a large overpass with complete functions in Wuhan at that time. With the accelerated pace of the old city reconstruction, since 2003, four communities in the street area, including playground, Changjian, Changsheng and Huangjiadun, and the warehouse of the municipal commercial storage and transportation company, have been demolished, with a total area of more than 700 mu. More than 4000 households (farmers) have been relocated. After several years of construction, it will form a beautiful community integrating commerce and living.

A large number of industries such as railway, port transportation and machinery manufacturing gather within the jurisdiction. Wuhan Railway Branch (in the street area before the 1980s), Jiang'an railway station, Jiang'an Public Works section, Jiang'an hydropower section (moved away in the 1990s), Jiang'an train section, Jiang'an power section, Jiang'an train inspection station and Jiang'an material factory have been in the street area for a long time. Before jinjiadun new Hankou railway station was put into operation in October 1991, there were 27 tracks in Jiangan railway station, and the freight yard of the station was one of the top ten freight yards in China. There are 12 pairs of trains passing through, with a monthly passenger flow of more than 20000 people and a monthly freight volume of 87000 tons. Since the 1950s, it has been carrying out the task of delivering the special train of fresh food to Hong Kong. There are 12 loading and unloading docks along the 1.8km section of the Yangtze River. Before the 1990s, there were nearly 2000 dock workers and nearly 100 sets of large machinery and equipment, with an annual comprehensive carrying capacity of 3.77 million tons. It is combined with river bank station by water and land.
There are Hubei hydraulic machinery factory, Wuhan camera General Factory, Wuhan No.4 machine tool factory and a number of small enterprises in the area. The main products are hydraulic machinery, cameras and marine instruments, universal tools, bed washing, plastic products, automobile accessories, etc. Hankou branch of Wuhan power supply bureau moved in in the 1990s and took charge of Jiangan, Jianghan, Qiaokou East and West Lake four areas of power supply and line maintenance tasks. Wuhan Branch of China Unicom in Hubei Province is responsible for the management of mobile communication business in Wuhan area of China Unicom.

The area along the river is an important flood control section in the river bank area. Erqijie flood control embankment section is 1.8km long, from the center line of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge No.2 to the splayed wall under the 39 wharf of Jiangan port company, with 13 passageways, 2 pumping stations and 2 drainage outlets. During the flood control in 1998, 609 people directly participated in the flood control work in the whole street, and 2286 people were dispatched to seal the gates. Qian Yunlu, former Secretary of the municipal Party committee, Wang Shouhai, mayor, and leaders of the district Party committee and the district government went to the street branch headquarters for many times to direct and participate in flood control and rescue work.
