Suya Lake
Suya Lake is a plain reservoir with the largest area and the longest dam in China. It was built in 1958. It is a large-scale water conservancy project mainly for flood control, combined with irrigation, power generation, breeding, tourism and other comprehensive utilization projects. Suya Lake is located 2 kilometers east of Luodian Town, Runan County, starting from Yuhuang temple in the north, yezhugang in the south, Guizhuang in the East and Bieqiao in the West. Founded in 1958, the South and north earth dams on the East Bank of the reservoir are 35.29 kilometers long and 58 meters high. They block the upstream water from Banqiao reservoir and Boshan reservoir, with a water storage area of 239 square kilometers and an annual water surface of 110000 mu. Suya Lake is the largest artificial plain reservoir in Asia, with the reputation of "man-made Dongting". It can be said that "the hundred mile long dyke locks the flood, ten thousand wild ducks play with fish!" The South and north earth dams on the East Bank of the reservoir are 35 km long, and the widest part of the lake is 15 km. The reservoir area covers an area of 350000 mu, with a storage capacity of 820 million cubic meters. On the West Bank of the lake, there are 60000 mu of forest vegetation and 10000 mu of reed marshes, and there are tens of thousands of green willows on the dam around the lake.
