Beiling town is located in the southeast of Xiayi County, 15 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to huodian Township in the East, Caoji and Huqiao Township in the west, Kongzhuang and Taiping Township in the north, and Taiqiu town in Yongcheng city in the south.

Beiling town has been called beilingji since the Ming Dynasty. It is said that "beilingji, nanlingdian and Yongcheng county are added to it". It belonged to Yongcheng County before 1950s, and then to Xiayi County, and Beizhen people's commune was established. In 1984, the people's commune of Zhebei town was changed into Beizhen township. On February 22, 2013, with the approval of the Department of civil affairs of Henan Province, Beizhen township was removed from the township to build a town, and Beiling town was established.
