Yingtianmen site
Yingtianmen site has a long history and profound cultural atmosphere. Yingtianmen was built in the first year of Daye (AD 605) and was initially called zetianmen. After Li Shimin conquered Luoyang, the eastern capital, he burned it because it was too luxurious. In the early Tang Dynasty, it was rebuilt on the old site. When it came to Li Dan, it was renamed Yingtianmen instead of his mother. Yingtianmen is the South Gate of the palace city of Luoyang, the eastern capital of Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is the place where the imperial court held important state affairs, celebrations and diplomatic activities at that time, and it is also the most complete preserved Gate site of Tang Dynasty. According to historical records, such ceremonies as Wu Zetian's title as emperor, Li Zhizhao's release of King Baiji Fuyu, and Li Longji's reception of the eighth Japanese envoy to the Tang Dynasty were held at Yingtianmen tower. Yingtianmen site is in the shape of "concave", which is composed of gatehouse, duolou and que Lou. The gallery and veranda are connected in the middle and the que comes out from the left and right. The distance between the two que is 83 meters. The square in front of the gate is in the middle, which is of peculiar shape and large scale. Its architectural form has a direct impact on the Danfeng gate of Bianliang city in the Northern Song Dynasty and the Meridian Gate of the Imperial Palace in Beijing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It occupies a very important position in the architectural history of the capital of China. The middle section of Yingtianmen site intersects the present Dingding South Road obliquely, and the East and West que Lou are separated on the East and west sides of Dingding road.
