Guxing town

Guxing town is located in the northwest of Huiji District, the northern suburb of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Guxing town connects Guangwu town of Xingyang in the west, the Yellow River in the north, Dahe Road office in the East, the high tech Development Zone in the south, the Yellow River in the north, the Kuhe River in the middle (commonly known as gravel stream), the suoxu River in the South running through the East and West, and the Yellow River diversion canal running through the north and south, with a total area of 77.67 square kilometers. It is an important driving force for the economic and social development of Huiji district component.

Historical evolution

1. Guxing had always been the seat of Xingyang County before the Northern Wei Dynasty.

2. After the Northern Wei Dynasty, Xingyang county government moved from guxing to the old city of Xingyang.

3. Before 1931, Xingyang area was divided into Xingyang, Sishui and Guangwu counties. Guxing belonged to Guangwu county.

4. In October 1948, Guangwu county and Sishui county were merged into Chenggao County, and guxing belonged to Chenggao county.

5. In November 1953, guxing district (county area) of Chenggao county was divided into the suburbs of Zhengzhou.

6. Guxing people's commune was established in 1957.

7. It was changed to guxing Township in 1983.

8. In 1987, the suburb of Zhengzhou city was abolished and Mangshan district was established. Guxing Township belongs to Mangshan district.

9. In 1995, guxing township was changed into guxing town.

10. In 1997, with an area of 95 square kilometers and a population of 49000, it has jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages, including guxing, jigongmiao, Chengzhuang, Shijiahe, caocanpo, Macun, huangheqiao, Sunzhuang, baohezhai, Nanwang village, lingjunyu, zhangdingbang, Niuzhuang, Gangli, qianliu, huijiqiao, Xinzhuang and tieluzhai.

11. In 2003, Shijiahe administrative village was put under the jurisdiction of Laoyachen street in Mangshan district (renamed Huiji District in 2004); Xinzhuang, qianliu and Gangli administrative villages were put under the jurisdiction of Maozhuang town (changed into dahelu street in 2005).

12. In 2005, baohezhai, Niuzhuang, huijiqiao and tieluzhai administrative villages were divided into the urban area of Huiji district under the jurisdiction of Dahe road street.

13. In December 2016, Xishan community was newly established in guxing town. So far, guxing town has 10 administrative villages, including guxing, jigongmiao, Chengzhuang, Macun, caocunpo, Nanwang village, Huanghe Bridge, Sunzhuang, lingjunyu, zhangdingbang, and one community in Xishan community.

Guxing Grand Canal Cultural Zone

The 11th Party Congress of Zhengzhou clearly pointed out that the guxing Grand Canal cultural area should be regarded as an important carrier to promote the inheritance and innovation of Zhengzhou's Chinese history and civilization. Guxing town is adjacent to the Zhengzhou section of the Tongji canal, the world cultural heritage in the south, and the boundary point of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in the north. It has four provincial cultural relics protection units and nine municipal cultural relics protection units. Zhengzhou section of Tongji canal of the Grand Canal of China is located in Huiji District in the north of Zhengzhou. It was formerly a part of the "chasm" between Chu and Han Dynasties. The existing section includes the old road of Suosu river canal and a section of Bianhe river site. Among them, the Suosu section is the most complete remains of Tongji canal of the Grand Canal in Sui and Tang Dynasties. It starts from fengshuo street in the West and flows into Jialu River in the East, with a total length of about 16 kilometers.

According to the annals of Xingyang County, the Grand Canal cultural area renovates the city walls and gates, restores the roads, markets and houses of the ancient city of Han Dynasty, reproduces the features of the ancient city of Xingze in Han Dynasty, and creates a 5A level tourist attraction with the main contents of site sightseeing, popular science education, cultural experience and theme entertainment.

On the west side of the ancient city, a new water city is built along the canal to build a tourism supporting area. Tourism inside and living outside complement each other and promote industrial transformation and upgrading with characteristic tourism.

History and culture

Guxing town is the famous ancient city of Xingyang in history. As early as 3000-5000 BC, their ancestors worked and lived on this land. In the sixth and seventh century BC, Zheng state built the ancient city wall here, which was the main traffic route of the political, economic and cultural center at that time.

In 204 BC, Xiang Yu, the overlord of the Western Chu Dynasty, and Liu Bang, the king of the Han Dynasty, fought a decisive battle here, which was a place for military strategists.
