Historical evolution

The four villages south of Xinzhuang in ganguantun town belonged to Qingyuan Township in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and belonged to the eighth district before 1937. The rest are Liulin District of Tangyi County, which was classified as Guanxian County in 1956. Ganguantun township was set up in 1958. In the autumn of the same year, it belonged to Liulin and Qingshui communes. In 1962, it belonged to Liulin district and Qingshui district.
