Niuquan town
Niuquan Town, under the jurisdiction of Laiwu District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, is located in the southwest of Laiwu District, east of the beautiful Shandong Jinan lotus Holy Land scenic spot (Laiwu Lotus Mountain, 999 meters above sea level, the highest peak of Jinan City), Laiwu huanglongguan scenic spot and Laiwu caishixi scenic spot. Its geographical coordinates are 36 ° N and 117 ° 26'e, with a total area of 143.09 square kilometers. Niuquan town is adjacent to Xiazhen, Gaozhuang and Laiwu District in the north, East and northeast, and Taian City in the West and south. Muwen River, the largest water system in Laiwu area, passes through the north of the town.
On January 4, 2019, Niuquan town was selected into the list of "Rural Revitalization demonstration towns" of Shandong characteristic industrial towns in 2018.

The main mineral resources are iron, limestone, placer gold and so on, and the swallow stone produced is the largest in the province. The scenic spots include Yuntai Mountain Provincial Forest Park, wager cave, Jixin cave, Bixia Yuanjun palace, Huangchao Luoma place, Yibu Sanyan well, Bijia mountain (Wang Xizhi stele forest, Huaxia MINGTING garden, minghuiquan, tiger cave, Shenxian cave, cliff stone carving, etc.), wager tower reservoir.
Historical evolution
The town is named after the government's residence in dongniuquan village. According to Qin's genealogical records, in the Hongwu year of Ming Dynasty, spring bamboo shoots were moved from Zaoqiang County, Hebei Province to Jiancun village. There was a spring in the east of the village. Herdsmen often drove cattle to drink here, and the number was abundant. It was said that it was a divine cow, so it was named niuwangquan. Because of the double name with the word "Dong", it is named dongniuwangquan. In the late Qing Dynasty, Maobu, Nangong and wennanbao belonged to Nanxiang. In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to the third district (Wennan District) and the Tenth District (Luxi District). From 1939 to 1941, it successively belonged to lainan administrative office, Xintai county and Xinfu county. In 1942, it belonged to Wennan, Shengjing, Luxi and YEDIAN districts of Xinfu county. In October 1945, it was called Shengjing district. In 1951, it was renamed the Fifth District. It was renamed Shengjing District in 1955. In 1958, it was divided into two townships, Niuquan and Shengjing. In October of the same year, it was renamed Niuquan and Shengjing communes. In 1959, it was merged into Niuquan commune, with jurisdiction over Niuquan, Shangzhuang, lvjialou, Shengjing, Shengzhuang and Xiaozhuang. In April 1984, it was renamed Niuquan office. It has jurisdiction over Niuquan Town, Shengjing, liushengzhuang, lvjialou, dongshangzhuang and Xiaozhuang townships, 69 administrative villages and 83 natural villages.
In October 1985, it was divided into Niuquan town and Shengjing town. In 1997, Niuquan town covers an area of 54.25 square kilometers and has a population of 40339. Niuquan town is located in the lower reaches of Muwen river. The surface water system of the whole town belongs to Muwen River Basin. There are 1 medium-sized reservoir and 7 small reservoirs in the town, with a total water storage capacity of about 13.5 million cubic meters. There are about 60 ponds and dams, with a total water storage capacity of about 2.3 million cubic meters and an annual total runoff of about 45 million cubic meters.
