Sunbo town is located 28 kilometers southwest of Feicheng City, the sun of Dawen River, known as the "Pearl of Wenshui" and "Millennium ancient town". Its geographical location is 35.57 'to 36.02' n, 116.41 'to 116.48' e, adjacent to Anzhuang town in the East, Ningyang County and Wenshang County across the Wenhe River in the south, Dongping County in the West and anzhan town in the north. It is 9.75 km wide from east to west and 10.25 km long from north to south. The town has a total population of 32000 (2017) and a total area of 72 square kilometers. It governs 17 administrative villages and 28 natural villages.

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Sunbo town as a national health township for the period of 2017-2019.

Historical evolution

During the Anti Japanese War, Sunbo town belonged to the Tenth District of Tai'an County. In the early days, Dongcheng village, Xicheng village and Chaoyang Village belonged to Feicheng County, half of the villages in the west of North South Road of wubu village belonged to Dongping County, and the other villages belonged to the fifth West District of ten districts of Tai'an County.

In October 1939, it was assigned to Taian County.

In 1941, it belonged to Taixi No.1 community.

In June 1949, it was returned to the eighth District of Feicheng county.

In February 1950, seven townships were built below the district level.

In 1956, it was divided into three townships (Sunbo, Hongshan and nanluan).

In April 1958, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. In September of the same year, the township was withdrawn and the Sunbo people's commune was rebuilt.

In January 1960, the three brigades of Dongwu, Xiwu and pashan were transferred from an fragmented commune to Sunbo commune, which has 17 brigades under its jurisdiction. The former senior club was renamed production team.

In 1982, it had jurisdiction over three administrative areas.

In December 1983, Sunbo commune was renamed Sunbo District, with three townships (Sunbo Township, nanluan Township and beiluan township), and the management area was abolished.

In November 1985, Sunbo district was changed into Sunbo Township, and townships below the district were abolished.

On December 25, 1987, it was divided into four administrative areas: Sunbo, nanluan, Wushan and Liuzhuang.

On January 8, 1996, Sunbo township was changed into Sunbo town.
