The evolution of the organizational system of Xinwen is mostly accompanied by the changes of Xintai (county) city. Xinwen city was established in November 1959. In April 1984, Xinwen Office of Xintai City was set up as an agency of the municipal government, with jurisdiction over Dongdu, Xiaoxie and Suncun.
