Yangkou town
Yangkou town belongs to Shouguang City, Weifang City, Shandong Province. It is located at the South Bank of Laizhou Bay in Bohai Sea and the entrance of Xiaoqing River. It is known as "a bright pearl on the Bank of Laizhou Bay". With a total area of 352.01 square kilometers, it has 23 administrative villages and 7 neighborhood committees. It is a key town in China, one of the first batch of Characteristic Towns in China, one of the ten new small cities pilot towns in Shandong Province, one of the forest towns in Shandong Province, and one of the most famous towns in Shandong Province Garden City, the first batch of economically developed towns reform pilot towns in Shandong Province, and 100 towns construction demonstration action demonstration towns in Shandong Province. In 2018, the local fiscal revenue of the whole town was 1.61 billion yuan, and the total industrial output value was 43.585 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 32.3% and 38.3% respectively. Yangkou town was opened in 1864, with a history of more than 150 years. Historically, the town is an important town of Commerce, transportation, fishery and salt industry in Shandong Province. After the reform and development, Yangkou town has gradually developed into an important industrial town in Shandong Province, with leading industries such as high-end petrochemical, marine fine chemical, high-end manufacturing equipment, clean energy, port logistics and bio based new materials. By 2018, the annual throughput of the port will exceed 10 million tons, and 300000 tons of seafood can be caught annually; the underground brine reserves are rich, and the annual output of raw salt will reach more than 2 million tons.
On September 11, 2019, Yangkou town was selected into the "top 100 comprehensive competitiveness of Chinese towns in 2018".
On September 8, 2020, Yangkou town will be promoted to the 68th place of "top 100 towns in China in 2019".
Historical evolution
In ancient times, the former site of Yangkou town was on the North Bank of Xiaoqing River, so it was named Tangtou. Tangtouying is also known as Tang duying. It is said that when Li Shimin, the king of Tang Dynasty, conquered the East, his forerunners crossed the Wanghe River (hence the ancient name of the Wanghe River, tangduhe), and set up a camp at a high port on the north bank. Later generations called it "tangtouying" and later homonym "tangtouying". At the end of the Qing Dynasty, there were merchant ships from the North berthing here to buy grain for trade. The merchants nearby thought that they had a chance to take advantage of it, so they took the lead to build thatched cottages here to entertain merchants. Some fishermen came ashore to live here. Human activities began to be frequent. This was the beginning of the port opening.
Yangjiaogou city was established in 1945, district in 1947, city in 1948, district in 1950, special zone in 1952, Yangjiaogou town in 1955, Yangjiaogou commune in 1958, Yangzhuang commune and sleeper commune in 1979, town in 1980, Yangzhuang Township and sleeper Township in 1984, and Yangkou town in 1993. Yangzhuang commune and sleeper commune were established in 1979, and Yangzhuang Township and sleeper Township were changed in 1984.
In 1997, Yangkou Town, with an area of 157.5 square kilometers and a population of 21000, had jurisdiction over the first to sixth neighborhood committees; Yangzhuang Township, with an area of 107 square kilometers and a population of 19000, had jurisdiction over yangjiazhuangzi, nanzhaike, yingzi, Guantai, Zhaike I, Zhaike II, Zhaike III, Zhaike IV, Zhaike V, beidingjiazhuangzi, danjiazhuangzi, renjiazhuangzi, zhengjiazhuangzi, qijiazhuangzi, wangjiazhuangzi and Caiyang With an area of 142 square kilometers and a population of 21000, it governs 21 kojiawu villages, including kojiawu No.1, kojiawu No.2, kojiawu No.3, kojiawu No.4, kojiawu No.5, kojiawu No.6, kojiawu No.7, lijiawu, sleeper, wujiasleeper, guojingzi, caoxinzhuang, liuwangzhuang, houxinzhuang, dongtaoyuan, xitaoyuan, renmianhe, beimuqiao, nanmuqiao, yangjiaweizi and Liugu road Administrative village.
In 2001, Yangzhuang township was abolished and merged into Yangkou town. In 2005, sleeper township was abolished and incorporated into Yangkou Town, with 43 Village (neighborhood) committees and a population of 50677. After that, some administrative villages were transferred to Shuangwangcheng economic management committee.

At present, Yangkou town is planning the project of extending Taiping Street from west to north. After completion, the distance between Yangkou town and Dongying airport will be shortened to 20 minutes. In addition, the resumption project of Xiaoqing River will be started, from Yangkou to Dongying, Zibo, Binzhou and Jinan. The planned 228 National Road and the east line of Beijing Shanghai high speed railway all pass through Yangkou Town, and it has been determined to set up a station in Yangkou.
