Tongyuan Township
Tongyuan Township, belonging to Linchuan District, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the northwest of Linchuan District. It is adjacent to Fuhe River in the East, surrounded by mountains in the west, North and south. The terrain is irregular trapezoidal. Xiangle railway runs across the north and south, and Linfeng highway runs through the East and West. The area is 106 square kilometers (2018), and the registered residence population is about 28 thousand and 800 (2018), with 13 administrative villages under control (2019).

Historical evolution
In the Qing Dynasty, the territory was thirty-six capitals, thirty-nine capitals of Jin'an Township and forty-three capitals of Mingxian township.
In 1947, it belonged to the Sixth District.
In 1953, it belonged to the eighth district (Zhanping District).
In 1958, Tongyuan, Dongfang and Shiqiao townships merged to form Tongyuan people's commune.
In 1962, it was divided into two people's communes, Tongyuan and Dongfang, and merged in 1968.
In 1984, it was renamed Tongyuan township.

Tongyuan township is located in the northwest of Linchuan District, 22 kilometers away from the downtown area. It is adjacent to Fuhe River in the East, Wenquan Town in the south, Zhanping Township in the southeast, Taosha town in Fengcheng City in Yichun City in the southwest and Dagang Town in the north. The total area of the township is 106 square kilometers.

Tongyuan township is surrounded by mountains in the west, North and south, with irregular trapezoid terrain. Longhui mountain in the southwest is the highest point of Tongyuan. Yexian mountain, zhuangyuanling mountain and Tongling mountain are connected with Xiangui peak.

Tongyuan township is a subtropical monsoon region with mild climate, four distinct seasons, sufficient sunshine, abundant rainfall and long frost free period. The annual average temperature is 17.5 ℃. In July and August of the year, it is the hottest with an average temperature of 29.5 ℃; in January and February, it is the coldest with an average temperature of 5.2 ℃. The annual average sunshine hours is 1775 hours, the annual average frost free period is 270 days, and the annual rainfall is 1500-2000 mm.

Economics
Tongyuan township has many farmlands, dense forests and wide waters. Mainly rice, watermelon, Camellia oleifera and sugarcane are also important agricultural and sideline products. Economic crops include rapeseed oil, beans, oranges, peaches and plums.
In 2018, the Party committee and government of Tongyuan Township focused on using natural resources to guide the masses to develop characteristic agriculture, engaging in pine wood and vegetation planting, and cattle and sheep breeding in Dongfang and Chixi villages. In addition to planting oranges and Camellia oleifera in mountain forests, fire prevention and tree cultivation work have been done well. Seven administrative villages, including Xintang and zhenkou, have raised more than 700 mu of forest.

Transportation
Tongyuan township is the west gate of Fuzhou City, with Neipu railway and Fuyin expressway running across the north and south, and Linchuan Fengcheng highway running through the East and West. Xiangle railway runs across the north and south, with Tongyuan railway station.

Champion ridge
Zhuangyuanling is located in Zhangjia village, Tongyuan Township, Linchuan District. It is a famous scenic spot in Linchuan District. It was the post road of Jianghuai Guangzhe in ancient times. There are also zhuangyuanling Pavilion and 3 km long ancient post road on the mountain. The ancient post road extends to Zhangjia village at the foot of the mountain. There are dozens of ancient camphor trees on both sides of the post road.
