Yanpo town

Yanpo Town, subordinate to Yongfeng County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the north of Yongfeng county. It is connected with Lugang Township in the East, urban and rural areas in the west, Qidu Township and Zuolong Township in the south, Xingan County and Le'an County in the north. Covering an area of 148 square kilometers, the town governs 1 community, 12 administrative villages, 131 Village (resident) groups and 91 natural villages. In late 2018, there were 27 thousand and 200 registered residence population in the town.

Yanpi town mainly produces rice, rich in early pepper, mushroom, watermelon, Huaisheng, rape, tobacco, etc.; the development of animal husbandry mainly includes beef cattle, pigs, ducks, geese and other production bases; the main varieties of aquatic products are grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp. By the end of 2018, there were 35 industrial enterprises and 9 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters in yanpi town.

Historical evolution

On the eve of the founding of new China, it belongs to Xinghua township.

After the founding of new China, it belonged to Jiangkou Township, the second district; in 1958, Jiangkou people's commune was established; in 1959, it was divided into Jiangkou commune and Shuidong commune; in 1968, the two communes merged into Jiangkou commune; in April 1984, the commune was withdrawn to establish a township and renamed Yanpi township; in May 2001, the township was withdrawn to establish a town and renamed Yanpi township.

Yanpi town is located in the hills, the terrain is high in the north and low in the south. The highest place is Guoshan in yanpi Jiantian, with an altitude of 567.3 meters.

History and culture

Yanpo town has a long history of one town and two polders (Jiangkou polder and Shuidong polder). In the lunar calendar, Fengdan is Shuidong polder, and Fengshuang is Jiangkou polder. The polder drivers radiate to the surrounding towns, Le'an county and Xiajiang county. Every year, from August 18 to August 21 of the lunar calendar is the traditional cattle fair day in yanpi town. Cattle traders and cattle traders from eight neighboring townships come to participate in the fair, with a trading volume of more than 10000 heads.
