Honghu Township

Honghu township is located in the southeast of Yujiang District, Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, on the North Bank of the middle and lower reaches of Baita river. It is adjacent to Yingtan economic and Technological Development Zone in the East and Longhu Mountain scenic spot in the south. It covers an area of 5.1 square kilometers and has a population of 10098 (2017). It has four administrative villages, one improved seed farm and one neighborhood committee. National Highway 320, Zhejiang Jiangxi railway, Jinan Guangzhou Expressway and denghong line pass through the territory.

Historical evolution

Honghu township was originally located in Zengjia village of Honghu, hence its name. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Hongya Township and Shuangfeng township. Honghu commune was established in 1960 and changed to township in 1984. It has jurisdiction over 10 village committees of Honghu, HaoLing, Xinhu, Shuibei, Sujia, Tangqiao, Banqiao, Guanfang, Dongyang and Ludi.
