Bailing Town, subordinate to Xiushui County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the western border of Xiushui County, adjacent to crossroad Township in the East, Huanglong Township in the south, Daping Township, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province in the southwest, Maishi Town, Tongcheng County, Hubei Province in the west, and Quanfeng town in the north. With an area of 79.7 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages and 2 communities. In late 2018, the population of Bailing town had 38 thousand and 200 registered residence population.

History of construction

In the Qing Dynasty, the town belonged to 68, 69, 70, 71 and 73 capitals of Xixiang.

During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Taoshu Township and Lukou township of Huanglong district.

In August 1949, there were seven townships of shaping, Dadong, Taoshu, Taiqing, Jiaodong, bailing and Jinnan, which were subordinate to the intersection district (eleven districts); in September 1956, they were merged into three townships of shaping, Wenquan and Jinling, which were subordinate to the bailing district; in September 1958, Wenquan and Jinling were merged to form Wenquan commune; shaping township was merged into Quanfeng commune; in March 1960, Wenquan commune and Quanfeng commune were merged into bailing commune; 19 Quanfeng was divided into three communes in September, 1963: shaping commune, Wenquan commune and Jinling commune; in August, 1963, shaping commune was abolished, part of which was merged into Wenquan commune and part into Tangcheng commune; in May, 1966, Jinling commune was abolished, part of which was merged into Wenquan commune; in September, 1968, Wenquan commune and Lukou commune were merged into bailing commune; in January, 1972, Lukou commune was separated, which was still bailing commune; in 1977, Quanfeng commune was merged into Wenquan commune In 1984, Sanping, Rongchun and Xiangyang of Quanfeng commune were assigned to bailing commune; in June 1984, bailing commune was abolished and renamed bailing township; in January 1993, bailing township was abolished and renamed bailing town.

Bailing town belongs to the Xiuhe River Basin of Poyang Lake system, with Taoxi River and Bailing River. Taoxi water originates from the east foot of Huanglong, which is the source of Xiuhe River; bailing water originates from the junction of Wangjialing and jinfengshan. After the confluence of Taoxi water and bailing water in dazhuangduan village, it becomes shaping water, then turns northeast and flows into Quanfeng town.
