Huilong Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Qidong City, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, is the seat of Qidong municipal Party committee and government, and the political, economic, cultural, educational, medical and artistic center of the city. It covers an area of 104.19 square kilometers (2017) and has a total population of 233980 (2017). It has 27 administrative villages, 2 sub district offices and 25 neighborhood committees.

History and culture

Huilong town has 72 bays in its winding harbor. It is said that it is a fairyland of Yingzhou left by the gathering of dragons to offer treasure. Huilong got its name from this. As for the name Huilong, there is another folk saying: because this area is in the middle of the four seas, the Dragon Kings of the four seas have gathered here several times to discuss many matters. Nearly 300 years ago, Huilong town was still a vast ocean, the estuary of the Yangtze River. With a large amount of sediment in the upper reaches of the Yangtze river deposited on the North Bank of the Yangtze River, it gradually rose out of sandbanks and developed into land. Originally under the jurisdiction of Chongming County, Qidong County was set up in 1928. After the separation of Chongming and Qidong County, it was under the jurisdiction of Qidong County. Huilong town was liberated on January 27, 1949, and the people's government was established in June 1950. Huilong town was merged with Huilong town in 1958, and Huilong people's commune was established in 1961. In November 1987, Huilong township was incorporated into the city. In March 1991, Huilong town was recognized as a famous town in Jiangsu Province by Jiangsu provincial Party committee research office, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Committee, civil affairs department and small town Research Association. In April 2000, the former yongyang and weijiao towns were merged into Qidong, becoming a big population and economic town.

Huilong town is the cultural center of the city. In 1958, Pingtan troupe, xiju troupe and Yueju troupe were established in Youxian county. Xiju and Yueju tunes were widely sung among the people. Folk arts such as dancing dragon lantern, carrying flowers, beating waist drum, beating lotus and Hunan continued to spread. There were 20 new approved foreign investment projects, and the foreign investment in 7 projects exceeded 1 million US dollars. 23 domestic and foreign projects were introduced, with a registered capital of 187 million yuan. The foreign exchange earned by foreign trade export was 53.2073 million US dollars, an increase of 98.14%, and the foreign exchange earned by mechanical and electrical export accounted for 42.3%. In the first three quarters of 2006, the actual utilization of foreign capital was 65.03 million US dollars, an increase of 282%; the foreign exchange earned by foreign trade was 74.35 million US dollars, an increase of 83%.

Huilong town has a strong industrial foundation, with an annual sales revenue of 10 billion yuan. It has formed a large industry group with Linyang electronics company's over 1.5 billion yuan as the leader, lubricating equipment company, Fengshen group, Tianyi cocoon silk company, Xinyao clothing company, Dongdi new synthetic fiber company and other over 100 million yuan as the backbone. In 2005, the industrial input completed more than 1 billion yuan of physical work, and the mechanical and electronic projects accounted for 70% of the major projects. The first phase of Linyang electronic industrial park with a total investment of 800 million yuan has been completed and put into operation. With the rapid development of private economy, Nantong is one of the top ten towns in total private economy. There are six national and provincial high-tech enterprises in Huilong town.
