The town got its name from the bridge. Because the widow built a bridge in the residence, it was called the widow bridge. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, the villagers raised funds to rebuild the stone bridge. On the eve of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Wanshan and gugang townships in four districts (Li Lin). In January 1950, it belonged to Changxi, Huli, kuqian, Diaozhong, Jinshan, HuGu, Zhenqiao and gugang townships. In March 1951, Shaojia, Tanghu and Wanshan townships were added. In June 1952, it was transferred to Zhenqiao district. Gutang, Yangjia, Jiangwan, kuibao, kengpan, Yangfan, dunshang, graphite and Yuanli townships were added and Wanshan township was abolished. Dunshang township was abolished at the end of 1953. In October 1955, Zhang's hometown was established and gugang, Diaozhong, Jinshan, kengpan and Yangfan townships were abolished.
