Siqiao Township

Siqiao Township, belonging to Zhouning County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, is located in the northwest of Zhouning county. It faces Chunchi town across the lake in the northeast, Puyuan town in the southeast, Zhenghe town in the northwest and Chengyuan town in the northwest. It is the East-West gate of Fujian. Its total area is 100.1 square kilometers. In late 2018, 16133 households registered residence in Si Qiao township.

Siqiao township is called Sizhou bridge because there are four bridges on the Sishui River, which pass through the village in the old time, leading to four ancient forks respectively. In August 1961, 12 brigades were separated from Chunchi commune and Siqiao commune was established. In March 1963, Siqiao was incorporated into Puyuan district. In August 1966, Siqiao commune was restored. In April 1984, Siqiao township was established. As of June 2020, Siqiao township has a total of 12 administrative villages.

Historical evolution

In the early Song Dynasty, it belonged to Guanli town of Ningde county. In the third year of Xianping in the Northern Song Dynasty (1000), it belonged to Guanli County of Jianning prefecture (1115, the fifth year of Zhenghe in the Northern Song Dynasty, renamed Zhenghe County).

Ming Jingtai six years (1455), under Shouning County, is the government and the seven capital.

During the Republic of China, it belonged to Chunchi ChiYan Township, Shouning County.

In 1950, it belonged to the Sixth District of Shouning County (Chunchi District).

In September 1955, Chunchi district was under the jurisdiction of Zhouning County, with five townships of Siqiao, zhoudun, ChiYan, bankeng and Zhuanyao.

In August 1958, ChiYan and bankeng townships were set up; in September 1958, ChiYan and bankeng communes were set up.

In August 1961, 12 brigades were separated from Chunchi commune and Siqiao commune was established.

In March 1963, Siqiao was incorporated into Puyuan district.

In August 1966, Siqiao commune was restored.

In April 1984, Siqiao township was established.

Siqiao township is located in Jiufeng Mountain range, upstream of Longting river. The terrain in the territory is mainly mountainous, and the valleys and basins crisscross; the terrain is high in the South and low in the north. The highest peak, wandingshan, is 1312.7 meters above sea level, and the lowest point, Xikou village, is 630 meters above sea level.
