Shanyang town used to be called Sanyang and Lantian, and changed its name from "there are many Chinese fir trees everywhere". Wenchang Pavilion: a county-level cultural relic protection unit, built in the period of song Jianlong (960-963), is a square building with a width of 28 meters from the west to the East and a depth of 30 meters. In 1976, it was destroyed by fire, leaving only four words of "Lantian academy" on the stone wall. In 2010, the reconstruction project of Lantian Academy was started. Cicada Forest Temple: the first batch of county-level cultural relics protection units in Gutian County, Shanyang Yu's ancestral hall, formerly known as Xianyan temple, has been rebuilt in successive dynasties.
