Economics
overview
After 1988, the agricultural and rural economic structure was adjusted, and the agricultural and sideline products increased year by year. In 2000, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the township was 118.28 million yuan, including 88.12 million yuan of agricultural output value and 30.16 million yuan of industrial output value, which increased by 5.08 times and 2.09 times respectively compared with 1988.
primary industry
Grain production
Wudong town is mainly planted with double cropping rice, and a few mountain villages are planted with medium rice. The annual sown area and yield of rice account for more than 80% of the food crops. Other food crops include sweet potato, corn, potato, etc. as miscellaneous grains in the township, the annual sown area is generally more than 1060 hectares, and the yield is generally 2000 tons. Since 1990, with the introduction of improved varieties and the promotion of new cultivation techniques, the grain yield has increased steadily. In 2000, the sown area of rice accounted for 79.1% of the total area of grain crops, the yield accounted for 87.97%, the miscellaneous grain area accounted for 18.9% of the total area of grain crops, and the yield only accounted for 12.03%. The sown area of grain crops is 3986.67 hectares, including 3153.33 hectares of rice. The total grain yield is 18061 tons, with an average yield of 4530 kg per hectare. The total yield is 1282 tons less than that of the previous year, but it is 43.14% and 19.36% higher than that of 1988, respectively.
cash crop
The main economic crops in Wudong town are peanut, tea, rape, sugarcane, flue-cured tobacco, vegetables, banana and taro, and fruit trees such as citrus, persimmon, loquat, plum, peach and pear. In 1988, tobacco production developed from small-scale cultivation to large-scale cultivation, with a planting area of 85.6 hectares and a yield of 116 tons, with a yield of 1350 kg per hectare. In 1991, the mountain comprehensive development office was set up to formulate a comprehensive development plan for the mountain area. The development of tea and fruit was listed as an important project. The villagers were organized to plant fruit in the mountain area. Chenpu, Yuantian, Siwei, Anfeng, Chuanfang, Shanshi, Huangpu and other villages were designated as the production bases for the development of mixed fruit in the township. New varieties such as Furong plum and Younai were introduced. In 1993, a production base of flue-cured tobacco was established, with 341.67 hectares of flue-cured tobacco planted, 487 tons of output and 4215 kg per hectare. In 1998, the planting structure was adjusted. Jiaowen village designated 2 hectares of arable land as a base for off-season vegetables in high mountains, and specialized vegetable growers appeared in rural areas. In 2000, we developed commercial vegetables, sent a group of farmers to Shouguang, Shandong Province to study, introduced Xiayang cabbage, Yudou, early autumn cabbage and other varieties, and planted them in various villages. We established 15 off-season vegetable bases with an area of 304 hectares. The total area of orchards in the township is 465.13 hectares, and the fruit output is 2927 tons. The orchards in Shanzhi, Lukeng, Toyota, Wufang, Yuantian, Huangpu and other administrative villages are all over 33.33 hectares. The tea garden is 119.07 hectares, with an output of 37 tons. Liangfeng tea and Chenpu tea are famous locally. The planting area of flue-cured tobacco is 200 hectares, with an output of 270 tons. The planting area of oil crops is 272 hectares, with an output of 388 tons. The planting area of sugarcane is 10 hectares, with an output of 225 tons. The planting area of vegetables is 780 hectares, with an output of 16650 tons. The planting area of fruit melon is 10 hectares, with an output of 120 tons.
Forestry production
In 1988, we improved various forms of forestry production responsibility system, focusing on afforestation, closing hillsides for afforestation, tending young forests, and establishing a number of joint-stock forest farms. In 1989, the "357" afforestation project deployed by the provincial government began to be implemented. By 1991, the afforestation area of the township was 373.33 hectares, the qualified rate of artificial afforestation was 100%, and the barren mountains suitable for afforestation were basically eliminated. In 1994, it was introduced from Yingde, Guangdong Province, and planted in Shanzhi. In the next year, it was gradually popularized and established five bases with an area of more than 6.67 hectares in the whole township. Later, it gradually shrunk due to its poor cold resistance. Seven administrative villages, Liujia, Meihe, Dongxing, Zhangshe, Xindong, Yuanshang and yuanxia, which produce a lot of bamboo, are designated as the production bases of Phyllostachys pubescens, and 0.27 hectares of seedlings are sown. In 1996, Wudong township forestry station was awarded the advanced unit of forestry work in 1995 by Fujian Provincial Forestry Department. Since 1997, the focus of forestry has shifted from afforestation to forest management and protection, and implemented the protection and development of forest resources with township (town) as the regional unit. By 1999, the total area of afforestation and regeneration in the township has reached 648 hectares in 12 years, producing 15000 cubic meters of timber and 200000 moso bamboo. In 2000, the reforestation area was 87.2 hectares, with 1037 cubic meters of timber harvested, 10000 moso bamboo, 45 tons of tung oil seeds, 4 tons of camellia oil seeds, 4 tons of brown slices, 199 tons of pine resin, 3 tons of dried bamboo shoots, 37 tons of Lentinus edodes and 6 tons of Auricularia auricula.
Animal husbandry and aquaculture
Farmers in Wudong town generally raise pigs, cattle, rabbits, chickens, ducks and other poultry and livestock, but only a few farmers raise sheep, with small scale and backward feeding methods. In addition to river fish, only domestic fish are kept in ponds. In 1988, the output of aquatic products was only 31.7 tons, and the output value of fishery was 40000 yuan, accounting for 0.27% of the total agricultural output value. Since then, the introduction of fine varieties, the promotion of scientific breeding technology, at the same time in the Liujia reservoir to carry out fertilizer fish culture pilot, animal husbandry and aquaculture has been rapid development, the emergence of aquaculture households. In 1995, villagers Lin Shengxiong and Wang Minghan founded a pig farm. In 2000, Lin Shengxiong introduced three Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire boars and 18 sows. The lean meat type pig raising is popularized in the whole township. There are 24000 pigs, 5600 cattle, 200 sheep, 110000 birds and 90000 rabbits in the township. There are 12 specialized households in animal husbandry, including 8 specialized households in pig raising and 4 specialized households in poultry raising. Throughout the year, the output of meat was 2737 tons and that of eggs was 500 tons. The area of freshwater aquaculture is 144.6 hectares, and the output of aquatic products is 224 tons. The output value of animal husbandry is 24.85 million yuan, and that of fishery is 2.17 million yuan, accounting for 28.20% and 2.46% of the total agricultural output value respectively.
the secondary industry
Rural enterprises
In 1988, Wudong industrial silicon plant was built and put into operation, with an annual output of 500 tons of crystalline silicon. There are 206 enterprises and 495 employees in the township. In 1990, the state implemented macro-control, reduced the scale of infrastructure construction and adjusted the industrial structure. The export of crystalline silicon products was hindered, and the price dropped from 7000 yuan / ton to 3000 yuan / ton-4000 yuan / ton. The export profit-making enterprise became a loss making enterprise which stopped production and half stopped production. Since 1992
