Cewu town

Cewu town is located in the middle of Changting County, connecting Hetian town in the East, Sidu town and zhuotan in the south, Gucheng town in the West and Datong town and the county in the north. The town government is located 14 kilometers away from the county seat. The villagers are all Han nationality and live in a Hakka way.

In 2019, the area of the whole town is 168.1 square kilometers, including 199000 mu of mountainous area and 12900 mu of cultivated land. There are 14 administrative villages, 114 villager groups, 4396 households and 31000 people in the town.

On June 29, 2020, it will be included in the list of provincial rural governance demonstration towns.

General situation

Geographical features

The terrain of Cewu town is inclined from north to south, with an average altitude of 300 meters, an average annual temperature of 18-19 ℃, an annual rainfall of 1400-1700mm, and a frost free period of about 275 days. It is a subtropical marine monsoon climate with mild four seasons.

There are abundant water resources in Cewu town. The Hakka mother river Tingjiang River flows from south to north through seven administrative villages of the township, with a flow of 13.5 km. There are two small reservoirs: Laixi reservoir and Litian reservoir; one joint-stock power station: Hongjiang Power Development Co., Ltd.

Transportation

Cewu town has convenient transportation. National Highway 319 and provincial highway Yangwan pass through the territory. Seven administrative villages are beside the national highway or provincial highway, and 14 administrative villages are connected to the highway. Longgan railway and Tinglong expressway will run through Mapi in the township.

There are many mountains in Cewu town. The existing mountainous area is 190000 mu, the forest area is 180000 mu, and the timber volume is 130000 cubic meters, most of which are coniferous forest and broad-leaved forest. The mountainous area of Yiguo County covers an area of 20000 mu, most of which are located on both sides of national, provincial and rural roads with convenient transportation. The soil is mainly red soil, which is suitable for the growth of many crops. Food crops mainly include rice, sweet potato and potato; cash crops mainly include flue-cured tobacco, rape and vegetables; fruits mainly include Ginkgo biloba, chestnut, American navel orange, kaempferi, kumquat, zaosuli pear and peach, among which American navel orange and kaempferi are the characteristic products of the town.

Historical evolution

The 12th district was set up in 1949. In 1956, it was changed to Cetian township. In 1960, it was changed to commune. In 1984, it was restored to township. On June 17, 2011, it was changed into Cewu town.

Governing the village committee

Cewu town has 14 village committees: Cetian village, cexing village, Lintian village, dangkeng village, Gaotian village, Hongjiang village, Delian village, Chenfang village, Heliang village, Licheng village, Litian village, Nankeng village, Nanxi village and Huangguan village.

Establishment approval

Reply of the people's Government of Fujian Province on the abolition of Sanzhou Township and the establishment of Sanzhou town and Cewu town in Changting County

Longyan Municipal People's Government:

We have received your "request for instructions on withdrawing villages and establishing towns in Sanzhou Township and other two townships of Changting County" (Long Zheng Zong [2011] No. 198). After research, it is agreed to abolish Sanzhou Township and Cewu Township and set up Sanzhou town and Cewu town in Changting County, with the former administrative regions of Sanzhou Township and Cewu township as the administrative regions of the two towns respectively, and the government's residence remains unchanged.

Historical commemoration

Changlingzhai battle victory monument: located in Heliang village of the town. Built in 1985, it is 4.9 meters high. On March 14, 1929, Mao Zedong and Zhu De led more than 2000 members of the Fourth Red Army, annihilated more than 2000 members of the Kuomintang's second mixed brigade in Fujian Province, killed brigade commander Guo Fengming, and won the great victory in the first battle of entering Fujian Province. In June 1981, changlingzhai battle site was announced as the first batch of county-level cultural relics protection units.

In 2001, a memorial park was built at the foot of changlingzhai mountain.
