Lifang Township, located in the southwest of Guangze County, Fujian Province, is located in Lifang village, 35 kilometers away from the county seat. The township is located between 117 ° 06 ′ E and 117 ° 16 ′ e, 27 ° 19 ′ N and 27 ° 27 ′ n, adjacent to Shaowu City in the East and south, Lichuan County in Jiangxi Province in the west, Zhima town in the north and luanfeng Township in the northeast.

In 2017, the administrative area was 19615 hectares, with a permanent population of 6374.

Historical evolution

Lifang village, where Lifang township is located, was built in the seventh year of Yanyou reign of Yuan Dynasty. It was named lijiafang, later referred to as Lifang. During the period of capital construction, the township belonged to the fifth, sixth and seventh capitals of yanfuli respectively. During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Zhima district.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Zhima District in 1950; in February 1972, it was divided into seven brigades to form Lifang commune; in September 1984, it was changed into Lifang commune

Within the territory, there are 217900 mu of forest mountains, 737200 cubic meters of forest stock and 2.36 million bamboo stock. Xixi is rich in water resources. It flows through four villages: Guanzhuang, Changyuan, Guanmi and Shicheng. Four hydropower stations have been built in the township, with a total installed capacity of 400 kW, of which the installed capacity of Guanmi power station is 350 kW, which is the backbone power station run by the township in the county.

Lifang township is an old revolutionary Soviet area. In July 1933, the Soviet government of Dongfang County was stationed in Shangguan village. The agricultural production of Lifang township is mainly grain planting, and Changyuan village pays equal attention to grain and forest. In 1993, the total grain output of the township was 14125 tons, with an average yield of 685 kg per mu. Guanmi pear, Yangli red pepper, corn from Changyuan and Shicheng are well-known in the county. In addition to wood and bamboo products, the processing industry of rural enterprises is relatively developed. Their main products are candied fruit, wax gourd sugar, and high-grade plant insoles, which have been widely sold inside and outside the province.

Because of its backwardness, Lifang Township changed slowly after the founding of the people's Republic of China. It was listed as a poverty-stricken Township in 1986. After three years of development, the government has lifted itself out of poverty.

In 1993, the total industrial output value of the township was 33.11 million yuan, an increase of 201% over 1992; the total agricultural output value was 26.42 million yuan, an increase of 9.13% over 1992; the total grain output was 0.48% over 1992; the total income of rural enterprises was 60.21 million yuan, an increase of 271.67% over 1992; and the per capita net income of farmers was 886 yuan, an increase of 16.73% over 1992.

Scenic Spots and Historical Sites

There are many places of interest in Lifang Township, including the site of Dongfang County, Futian temple, dafudi house, boluochan master tower, Pudong tower and guanmizeng ancient architecture. The natural landscape includes Shenshan scenic spot, with a total area of 30 square kilometers. There are more than 20 scenic spots, such as Shishan, dongguangyan and waterfall.
