Meihu town
Meihu town is located in the southwest of Dehua County, 35 kilometers away from the county seat, with jurisdiction over 8 villages. In 2013, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the township was 1.85 billion yuan, of which the output value of mining enterprises above designated size was 1.769 billion yuan. The territory is rich in mineral resources, is a mining town, the second largest iron ore raw material base in the province, with reserves of hundreds of millions of tons of limestone. Rich in "Meihu red tobacco", "Meihu rice noodles", "Meihu sweet persimmon" and other characteristic agricultural products. It has a good ecological environment, and is famous for its thousand year old camphor tree king, ancient kiln site of Tang Dynasty and Longhu temple.
In 2017, the administrative area was 9345 hectares, with 7940 permanent residents.

Meihu township is located in the west of Dehua County, upstream of xiaoyouxi, 21 kilometers away from the county.. It has jurisdiction over eight administrative villages. The township government is located in Xiaohu village. Provincial Highway 305 passes through the northeast end of the rural area. There is Yangshan Iron Mine in the territory.
Historical evolution
Meihu village is one of the earliest settled places in Dehua. As far back as the Neolithic age, people lived in houpingshan area of Meihu village. In 1974, stone axes, stone spears, printed pottery and other relics of human activities were unearthed. From the Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the small Youshang regiment in Dehua County; in the sixth year of Tianshun, it belonged to Xinhuali, Jixian township; in the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Shanghan society and zunmei society; in Yangshan, it belonged to youzhongli; in the Republic of China, it belonged to Shuangyang township.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the Fifth District in 1951 and was renamed Chishui District in the second half of 1956. When the commune was established in 1958, Meihu, Yangtian and Yangshan three brigades belonged to Chishui commune. In 1961, it was separated from Chishui commune and set up Meihu people's Commune by adding Xiaohu, shean, Shangdi, yangkeng and Xieshan brigades. The commune was located in Houping village of Meihu brigade and moved to Xiaohu village in 1980. It was changed to Meihu Township in 1984.
Climate and environment
In Meihu Township, there are low mountains and rolling hills. The peaks of Longhu Mountain, dabaiyan, Jiulong Mountain and kuangqi, which are more than 1000 meters above sea level, stand in the southwest. The township has a mild climate and abundant rainfall, with an average annual temperature of 16 ℃ and an annual rainfall of 1700-1800 mm. The streams are divided into Minjiang River and Jinjiang River. Some of the streams in Yangshan in the south flow into Xixi in the upper reaches of Jinjiang River through Yongchun. The rest of the streams flow into Youxi, the main stream. They flow into Datian in the West and then into Minjiang River through Youxi in the north.

Meihu town is one of the important mineral resources bases in Dehua, which is rich in mineral resources. Iron ore is mainly distributed in Yangshan, Xieshan, Meihu and other villages, with a deposit of more than 100 million tons, high grade and iron content of more than 50%. It is the second largest iron ore storage area in Fujian Province with a long mining history. It was mined and smelted in the Song Dynasty, and has continued for generations. The iron ore production base with Yangshan Iron ore, Xinyang mining and Yangchun mining as the leading enterprises in the territory processes 60% fine iron ore powder annually It is one of the iron and steel raw material bases in the whole province;
Smelting industry and foundry industry are relatively developed, producing wear-resistant materials, pig iron, ferrosilicon, ferromanganese and other products for export; there are kaolin ore and limestone ore, with high quality and large reserves of kaolin, which is an important base for producing raw materials of Dehua famous porcelain. In addition, there are coal, lead, zinc, tungsten, quartz and other minerals to be developed.

The economic development of Meihu town presents the pattern of "mining in the South and farming in the north". In 2004, the total industrial and agricultural output value of Meihu town reached 332 million yuan, including 60 million yuan of agricultural output value, 272 million yuan of industrial output value, 380 million yuan of township enterprises output value, 10.93 million yuan of township financial revenue, 1.59 million yuan of township financial revenue, and 4616 yuan of per capita net income of farmers. The main grain production is rice and sweet potato, and the total grain output is 5048 Tons. Tea, fruits, edible fungi, vegetables, huanghuali and other bases have begun to take shape.

Meihu town has developed transportation, education, culture and health. There are two roads in the township connected with the county, one road connected with yongchunghushan coal mine, and the road hardening is basically realized in the township. Now more than 1000 program-controlled telephones have been opened, including one central primary school, seven primary schools, eight kindergartens, one middle school, one branch school, health center, radio and television station, cinema and cultural station and other medical and health care, life services and entertainment facilities. The main scenic spot is the thousand year old camphor tree king in Xiaohu village, which was planted in the Tang Dynasty. It is 28.0l meters high, 16.7 meters in chest, 27.05 meters in ground, 33.8 meters in East and West, 39.95 meters in North and south. Although it has gone through thousands of years of vicissitudes, it has been reported by many newspapers and magazines, such as Fujian daily, that it is a good place for sightseeing.

Remove villages and establish towns
On June 23, 2014, with the approval of the provincial government, Dehua County abolished Meihu Township and established Meihu town.
