Tuzhai town is located in the east of Hui'an County, Fujian Province. Tuzhai has a superior geographical location. It is adjacent to Wangchuan town in the north, zhangban town and Shanxia town in the south, and Dongqiao Town, Dongling town and Luoyang Town in the East and West. It is not only the development hinterland of Houzhu port, the birthplace of the world's deep-water port, Douwei port and Maritime Silk Road, but also the famous Hui'an folk custom area, the transportation hub and trade center of six towns in Huidong.
In 2017, the administrative area of tuzhai town was 5049 hectares, with a permanent population of 90798.
Historical evolution
Tuzhai Qing Dynasty had garrison, so called tuzhai.. When Huian County was established in Song Dynasty, it belonged to Chongwu town and Chongshan township. In Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Wenzhi Township, xingman Township and xiangfuli. Shoujieli 25, 28, 29 and 34 all got puguangpu, songlinpu, xianxipu and caizhaipu. During the reign of the KMT, tuzhai town was set up to administer 15 Bao.
In September 1949, six townships, Fengqi, Shishan, Wuyin, Qiantang, xialian and Lianxi, were divided from the first district (Chengguan), and the second district (tuzhai) was established, with 21 townships under its jurisdiction. In June 1951, two townships, Lianxi and xialian, were abolished and 19 townships were under its jurisdiction.
In June 1952, the administrative division was adjusted, and three townships were assigned from fengqipian to the first district; two townships were set up in Tainan and Tabei, and Kuishan township was assigned from the fourteenth district (Wangchuan), which still governs 19 townships. In August, three townships, including Laifeng banner, Shishan and Qiantang, were planned, and Lianqun township was set up. Two townships, Tu Nan and Tu Bei, were abolished, with 21 townships under its jurisdiction.
In October 1955, fengqipian was assigned to Luoyang District, and Xintian, Shanxia and other four townships were assigned to Luoyang district. At the same time, tuzhai township was changed into township level town system, and tuzhai district still governs 21 townships.
In June 1956, tuzhai district was merged into eight townships. Shanxia and other four townships were merged into Jinshan Township and returned to Chongwu district. Fengqi township was established and then divided into tuzhai district. In May 1958, tuzhai township was set up with 12 associations, 53 branches and 403 production teams; Fengqi Township had 8 associations, 21 branches and 257 production teams. In June, the two townships were merged and preserved. Tuzhai township has 14 branches and 131 production teams; Fengqi township has 11 branches and 83 production teams. In September, the people's commune was transformed into a unity of government and society. Tuzhai township was changed into a management area of Feiyue people's commune, and Fengqi township was merged into Hongqi people's commune. Tuzhai management area has 15 production teams.
In the winter of 1961, tuzhai people's commune was set up, with 25 production teams and 247 production teams under its jurisdiction.
In 1962, there were five brigades, Xuanmiao, Dingguo, Jinxiang, Dongshan and Sheba, and two brigades, caishangcun and wencuo, with a total of 28 brigades under their jurisdiction.
In 1966, during the "four Qing" period, seven brigades, wencuo, Shangcun, Xuanmiao, Dingguo, Sheba, Jinxiang and Dongshan, were abolished, and two brigades, Songlin and Hongxing, were restored, with 23 brigades under its jurisdiction.
After the implementation of the rural economic policy in 1979, it was divided into five groups: Shangcun, wencuo, Sheba, Dongshan and Jinxiang. At the same time, Dongshan group was renamed dongban group, and two groups, Songlin and Hongxing, were abolished, with 26 under its jurisdiction.
In October 1984, the people's Government of tuzhai township was established.
In January 1985, the production brigade was renamed villagers' committee, which has jurisdiction over 26 villagers' committees and 355 villagers' groups.
In October 1989, the provincial government approved the establishment of tuzhai Town, implementing the system of town leading village. It has jurisdiction over 26 administrative villages and 97 natural villages, with 17216 households and 72754 people.

Tuzhai town is located in the southeast of the county, adjacent to Dongling town in the East, Shanxia Township in the southeast, Luoyang Township in the west, zhangban town in the South and Wangchuan town in the north. It covers an area of 49.3 square kilometers. Huichong highway crosses the East and West, and Huiyi highway passes by, so the traffic is convenient. The town government is located in tuzhai street. It is not only a deep-water port in the world, only half an hour away from Douwei port, Chongwu port and Houzhu port, the birthplace of the maritime Silk Road, but also an important transportation and Trade Center for six towns in Huidong.
Tuzhai town belongs to hilly landforms, with an average annual temperature of 20 degrees and an average annual rainfall of 1067mm. The mountainous area of tuzhai town is 29000 mu, and the cultivated land is 28000 mu. The zhetan River and the Linwang River, which have a large drainage area, cross the whole town, and the natural geomorphic conditions are better.

The industrial added value reached 280 million yuan, an annual increase of 17%, and the agricultural output value was 105 million yuan, an annual increase of 3.4%. There are Huzhu reservoir and zhutiankeng reservoir in the town, with a total capacity of 2.56 million cubic meters. Tuzhai town has the largest comprehensive market "Minnan No.1 city" in the province with more than 1400 stalls. It has 5000 program-controlled telephone module branches and four mobile communication base stations. It has set up a 10km high-voltage power transmission line, and a water supply line for Chengnan waterworks with a daily water supply of 100000 tons, connecting the industrial districts and market towns of the whole town.

The town is 9km away from the interchange of Fuzhou Xiamen expressway, 6km away from National Highway 324 and 3km away from Huian railway station. It's only half an hour's drive from the town to Chongwu town and Houzhu port wharf, and the sea and land transportation is very convenient.
