Ansha town is located in the middle reaches of Jiulong River and the northwest of Yong'an City, 43 kilometers away from the urban area. It is bounded by Caoyuan Town, Luofang Township, shawu township of Qingliu County and Hufang township of Mingxi County in the East, South, West and North. It has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee. There are Ansha hydropower plant and Yong'an Mining Bureau, two provincial factories and mines.

Historical evolution

During the second Civil Revolutionary War, Ansha was the frontier of the Central Soviet area. The Red Army of Chinese workers and peasants liberated Ansha three times.

At the beginning of April 1934, the Red Army established the first Soviet regime of Yong'an in Ansha, namely, the Soviet government of Ansha district and the Soviet government of Shibi, Caotian and shuidui townships.
