Digang town

Digang Town, subordinate to Fanchang District of Wuhu City, is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, on the South Bank of the Yangtze River, between Wuhu City and Tongling City, 45 kilometers away from each other, and across the river from Wuwei City in the north. The total area of the town is 87.7 square kilometers (2017), with a population of 37294 people (2017). It has jurisdiction over 10 village committees and 5 community neighborhood committees. It is the earliest landing place for the advance team of the Middle Route Army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army to cross the Yangtze River, and the earliest breakthrough for a million grand divisions to cross the Yangtze River.

In October 2019, Digang town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Dagang was first built in Han Dynasty. According to Taiping Fu Zhi, "Dagang is twice as big as the city, and merchant ships are thriving in Wuhu.".
