It was named after the official steep gate near it in ancient times. "Guandoumen", as the name suggests, is the official Doumen. He founded Donghe commune in 1958, changed to Dongfeng commune in the same year, and renamed Guandou commune in 1963. In 1983, he belonged to Jiujiang Township and Guandou Township respectively. In March 1992, Jiujiang Township, Guandou Township and Shili village of Xijiang Township were merged to establish a new Guandou township. In 1996, it covers an area of 53 square kilometers and has a population of 30000. It has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages in Nanyang, Luli, tingmeng, Shili, Qianqiao, Yangwei, Donghe, Guangming, Beidou, Xintang, Huatang, Shennan, Shendong, Yijiang, guanfei, Feifei, wutao, tangmei, Xinzhuang and the neighborhood committee of bujiadian. In January 1997, the township government was established in wutao village. In 2006, bujiadian village in Guandou Town, Jiujiang district was put under the management of Jingshan street, Jinghu District; in April of the same year, the town was removed and changed into a street.
