Nanxun town
Nanxun Town, subordinate to Nanxun District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is located in the central hinterland of China's Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, on the South Bank of Taihu Lake. It is the east gate of Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province connecting with Shanghai, and also the seat of Nanxun District Committee of Huzhou City.
Nanxun was once a combination of Nanlin and xunxi villages. It has a national AAAAA tourist attraction "Nanxun ancient town scenic spot", and many honorary titles such as China's charming town, National Health Town, one of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River.
In 2009, Nanxun town achieved a GDP of 19.557 billion yuan. As of 2014, the town governs 51 villages and 14 communities. The town covers an area of 140.87 square kilometers (2017), including 2 square kilometers of Guzhen District, with a total population of 211066 people (2017). The town has four major transportation modes: Waterway, land, sea and railway. In 2018, the national health county (township) was reconfirmed.
Historical evolution
According to the Hongcheng, Huacheng, Shangshi and other ancient cultural sites found in Nanxun, as early as the Neolithic age, the clan tribes of primitive society flourished here. In history, the subordination of Nanxun has changed greatly. According to legend, Xiayu controlled the flood and designated the world as Kyushu, while Nanxun was under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou. During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to Wu, Yue and Chu successively. In the 36th year of emperor Xianwang of Zhou Dynasty in the year of Wuzi, Chu established Zicheng County as the capital of Huang Xie, the emperor of Chunshen, and Nanxun was subordinate to Zicheng county. After the Qin Dynasty destroyed the six states, it was divided into 36 counties, including Kuaiji County, Wucheng County, Youquan county and so on. In the third year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty, Wucheng county was divided into Dongxiang and Dongqian county. In the fourth year of Hui Dynasty in the song and Yuan Dynasties, Dongqian county was renamed Dongan County, and it was still renamed Dongqian county the next year. In the ninth year of kaihuang reign of Sui Dynasty, Wucheng county was merged into Dongqian county. In the seventh year of the Taiping reign of the Song Dynasty, it was divided into 15 townships in the southeast of Wucheng county. In the first year of the Republic of China, Wucheng and Gui'an were merged into Wuxing County, which is now under the jurisdiction of Nanxun. On May 2, 1949, Nanxun was liberated, and now Nanxun is under the jurisdiction of Wuxing county. In January 1981, Wuxing county was abolished and renamed Huzhou City. In July 1983, Jiaxing area was abolished, Huzhou City was changed into a city under the provincial jurisdiction, and two districts, namely, urban and suburban areas, were established. Nanxun was subordinate to the suburb of Huzhou City. In November 1988, the urban and suburban system of Huzhou City was abolished, and the system of city governing the county and directly leading the towns and streets of the original city and suburb was implemented. The towns under the jurisdiction of Nanxun were directly under Huzhou City. In September 1993, Huzhou City was divided into three districts: Urban District, Nanxun district and Linghu district. Nanxun Town, Lianshi Town, Shuanglin Town, Shanlian town and Jiuguan town belong to Nanxun district; Linghu Town, Hefu Town, Qianjin town and Shicong town belong to Linghu district. In January 2003, Huzhou City abolished the three district committees and management committees of Chengcheng District, Nanxun district and Linghu District, and established two municipal districts of Wuxing district and Nanxun district. By 2015, Nanxun town was subordinate to Nanxun district.

Nanxun town is located in the north of Zhejiang Province, in the east of Huzhou City, adjacent to Zhenze town and Qidu Town of Jiangsu Province in the East.
