Xinyuan Town, one of the key towns in Jiangsu Province, is located in the southeast of Siyang County in Jiangsu Province. It is adjacent to Huaiyin District of Huai'an City in the East, Luji Town, the granary of Northern Jiangsu Province in the west, Peiwei town in the South and Likou town in the north. The town covers an area of 53.59 square kilometers (2017), with 42770 mu of arable land. It has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages, 3 community neighborhood committees and 90 villager groups, with a total population of 35101 people (2017). The town is famous for "Xinyuan mutton" and is known as "the first town for raising sheep in Northern Jiangsu". It breeds more than 60000 goats annually. It is a famous fur distribution center in Northern Jiangsu. Among them, goat skin is exported to Japan, the United States and other countries.

In October 2019, Xinyuan town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Xinyuan town is located in the southeast of Siyang County, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, on the Dayun River and the ancient Yellow River at the junction with Huai'an. The town has a total area of 53.59 square kilometers (2017), a cultivated area of 3034.89 hectares, a population of 35101 (2017), and a population of 20000. Xinyuan town has a long history and profound culture. It is one of the earliest established towns in Siyang County, one of the 98 key towns in Jiangsu Province, the key central town in the south of Siyang County, and the "top ten towns" in Suqian City. In 2014, it was rated as a national key town. The traffic in the area is convenient and the road network is accessible. It takes 15 minutes to enter xusuhuai Expressway and 20 minutes to reach Siyang County.

Historical evolution

There are Machang, Gaowan and Sancha in Xinyuan town. In August of the 12th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1832), the water of the Yellow River soared. Chen Duan, a villager, burst the South dike at the Bay in the town. The yellow water rushed down. The southeast of Siyang was a vast ocean, and Xinyuan became a new lake. After the water gradually receded, Machang Jidong and Gaowan Jixi presented two parallel Tuling, winding East and West, just like two Wolong. Nearby landlords, villagers, merchants and artists from Jiangnan and Shandong gathered here to settle down. In the early years of tongzhi (1862), two streets of "Shuanglong" were formed, which were called Jixu. The owner of Jixi was Chen, who opposed Chen Yiyi and called it Xinji; the landlord of Jixi, yuan, also built Yuanji along the East-West trend. The two episodes of Xin and Yuan are separated by a hundred steps, with Huangma River as the boundary, and connected by a bridge. At the beginning of the Republic of China, there were more than 500 households with prosperous business. Residents and fishermen within 15 kilometers of the area all like to come to the market. The West horse factory and the East High Bay were gradually depressed and closed. In 1934, Xinhe and Yuanhe became Renhe Town. During the Anti Japanese War, huaisi County in Huaibei district built Xinyuan District, Xinyuan Township, Renhe Town was renamed Xinyuan town. There used to be many institutions of the Anti Japanese democratic government in Huaibei, which left the fighting footprints of the older generation of revolutionaries such as Liu Shaoqi and Peng Xuefeng. After the founding of new China, the new yuan served as district, people's commune, township, etc. Xinyuan township was established in 1957, commune in 1958, township in 1983 and town in 1987. In 1996, it covers an area of 54 square kilometers and has a population of 43000. It has jurisdiction over 27 administrative villages including Yuanji, yangdatan, Sancha, Dongtian, jiejie, Yuwan, Gaowan, houdui, Mazhuang, Sanhao, sanxu, Sihao, Xindong, Xinji, Hetou, Gewei, 8th, Machang, Xitian, tianliyuan, Batou, Henian, Banan, liangxie, Xintan and Xinyuan agricultural science. In 2000, Yuanji, Xinji, Xindong and No. 1 villages were removed and relocated. In 2003, it had jurisdiction over two neighborhood committees, Xinji and Yuanji, and 10 administrative villages, Sancha, Yuwan, Xindong, Mazhuang, sanxu, Baishui, Machang, Batou, Henian and Gewei.
