It has been called Jiangxiang, ant collection, diaojiadu, diaojiapu, qianshanpu, Qianshan Town, Huanxi Town, diaopu Town, and now diaopu sub district office. The name of "Jiangxiang" comes from the poem "from chaixu to Hailing" written by Chu Chu, a Taizhou scholar in the Ming Dynasty. At that time, Chu often came to chaixu (port) from Taizhou. When he went back to Taizhou by boat, he left chaixu and looked north. What he saw was the beautiful scenery of diaopu's land of fish and rice. The poem said: "looking to the north, in the water country of Jiangxiang, the sails are ten li full of Lake wind. There are countless Baiping and Polygonum hydropiper, but only Xiaoyao is a fisherman. " However, the "Jiangxiang" here generally refers to the villages around diaopu. About a thousand years ago, people managed to communicate the traffic of the Huanxi River in diaopu. A market was formed in the East and west section of Qifeng bridge in diaopu. Because the Huanxi river was overgrown with weeds and ants, it was named "ant collection". Ant collection became the earliest exact place name of diaopu. Diaojiadu is a place name from ferry. In ancient times, there was a ferry in diaopu section of Jichuan River, which leads to the Yangtze River from Taizhou to the south. It was once the first of the top ten inland river ferries in Taixing. In the early Northern Song Dynasty, a large-scale collapse of the river bank occurred at the Hekou river bank. The river bank line moved to the southwest of diaopu Town, only Sanhua Li. The main road along the river that used to pass through chaixu was cut off and changed to the diaopu ferry. The passenger flow of the ferry increased greatly. Later, a boatman surnamed Diao came from Xinghua. He was skilled in ferry technology, cheap in charge, and friendly to others. On the way, there were post shops for changing horses or sleeping. In the early Ming Dynasty, the government set up post shops at the port and diaojiadu, which were called the port shop and diaojiadu shop. With the passage of time, people referred to "Diao Jia Du Pu" as "Diao Jia Pu", and used it as the name and place name of the post shop until the Shunzhi period in the early Qing Dynasty. Diaopu people are composed and multiplied by the immigrants of past dynasties. After the end of the Yuan Dynasty, there were four large-scale migrations. Originally, the surname of diaojiapu was relatively single. With the increase of residents with mixed surnames, new place names were planned in the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. Because there were thousands of households in the market town, the proposed name was qianjiapu, which was not recognized by the government. In order to create a peaceful, comfortable and harmonious living environment, in the early days of Kangxi, the town people signed a letter together, and eventually changed the name of diaojiapu to qianshanpu. Later, it was changed to Qianshan Town, which was still used until the 17th year of the Republic of China. Huanxi is the name of an ancient river. It is circled in diaopu Town, with nine bends and eighteen bends. The name of Huanxi ancient town used to coexist with diaojiapu and Qianshan for a long time. To commemorate the name of the ancient town, in 1928, it was named Huanxi town until 1953. In September 1952, the port of Longwo and Gaogang was divided into Taizhou City, Huanxi town was changed into a town directly under Taixing County, and Linjiang district (port area) was changed into diaopu District, which was later used as the town name. In April 2006, diaopu was replaced by a sub district office.
