The wave behind hastens the wave ahead
The latter wave urges the former wave. It is a Chinese word, which comes from the Song Dynasty's Guo Tiao Xi. It means to use the new things to promote or replace the old things and keep on moving forward.
The poem "crossing the Tiaoxi" of the Song Dynasty "only looks at the waves behind and urges the waves ahead, and then realizes that the new people change (change) the old people."
