Zhu Yongchun
Zhu Yongchun (1627-1698) was born in Kunshan County of Jiangsu Province in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. He is a famous Neo Confucianist and educator. Ming students lived in seclusion to teach and study in Qing Dynasty. They lived in the countryside to teach students. They devoted themselves to their studies. They took Cheng and Zhu's Neo Confucianism as the foundation, and advocated learning and practicing at the same time. He deeply felt that the education methods at that time made it difficult for students to learn real knowledge, so he wrote "stop talking", which made him feel remorseful. He used to write dozens of textbooks in regular script for teaching. He was quiet in spirit, strict in self-discipline, and upright to the officials and gentry who were willing to associate with him at that time. He is the author of the maxim of governing the family, the collection of shame and Nai, and the handout of the doctrine of the mean in University.
Profile
His father, Zhu Jihuang, was a scholar in the late Ming Dynasty. In 1645, he defended Kuncheng against the Qing army, broke the city and threw himself into the river. Zhu wailed day and night, unable to live in pain. At that time, his younger brother Yong Bai and Yong Jin were still young, and he was still a merchant. He served his mother, raised his younger brothers and sisters, and moved into exile. Only when the situation is settled can we return to our hometown. Wang Li, who worshipped the twenty-four filial piety schools and did not face the West all his life in memory of his father Wang Xiu, changed his name to Bai Lu. Zhu Yongchun never became an official. He taught the village all his life and taught the scholars elementary school and jinsilu. He used to write dozens of textbooks in regular script for teaching. He devoted himself to the study of Cheng Zhu's Neo Confucianism and advocated that knowledge and practice should go hand in hand. Among them, Xu Fang and Yang Wujiu were known as "three high officials of Wu Zhong". In the 37th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, he was ill. Before leaving, he told his disciples: "learning lies in life, and career lies in loyalty and filial piety.".
