Ye Tao, male, Han nationality. Born in 1963. He is currently a researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of world religions, Chinese Academy of social sciences. President of Chinese folklore society.

He graduated from the Chinese Department of Shandong University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2004, he graduated from the school of Arts of Beijing Normal University, studied under Mr. Zhong Jingwen and Mr. Liu Kuili, and obtained a doctor's degree in law (Folklore). from 1984 to 2008, he worked in Shandong University as assistant professor, lecturer, associate professor and professor. He is the main founder of Shandong University folklore and Chinese folk literature discipline, and serves as the director and doctoral supervisor of the discipline. Since April 2008, he has been a researcher and doctoral supervisor in the Institute of world religions, Chinese Academy of social sciences. in 1985, he participated in the founding of folklore research magazine and served as the director and chief editor of the Department for a long time. In 1987, he participated in the establishment of the Institute of folklore of Shandong University and served as the director of the Institute. He is the main sponsor of Shandong Folklore Society established in 1987. the research fields include folklore, folk literature and Chinese folk beliefs. He has written 9 academic works, edited more than 10 papers and research reports, and published nearly 100 academic papers and research reports. Main contributions
In 1985, he participated in the founding of folklore research, and served as the director and chief editor of the Department for a long time (1985-2008). It is the only publication of folklore theory in China. In 1987, he participated in the establishment of the Institute of folklore of Shandong University and served as the director of the Institute. He is the main founder of folklore and folk literature in Shandong University. in 1987, he participated in the preparation for the establishment of Shandong folklore society. He was the main sponsor and served as deputy secretary general, vice president and secretary general. long term chief leader of China Folklore Society (vice president and secretary general from 2006 to 2018, president since 2018). opening up a new field of Taishan culture research.
