Peng Ao graduated from Changsha Chuyi Industrial school. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1926. He once served as the Secretary of Yueyang Ninth District farmers association. After the failure of the great revolution, he took part in Nanchang Uprising and Xiangnan uprising, and then went to Jinggangshan.
Deeds successively served as platoon leader of the 28th regiment of the Fourth Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army, head of the Chiwei regiment of Zixing County, staff officer of the military headquarters of the Fourth Army, leader of the brigade directly under the Fifth Army, and division commander of the third division of the third army. He died in the fourth anti encirclement and suppression campaign. Peng Ao is a calligrapher of the Red Army. He once served as the commander of the third division of the third Red Army Corps and was killed in February 1933. Peng Ao once wrote about Wannian temple in Mount Emei, Sichuan Province: a sword in the box, a dragon roaring; a Lone Pine and a white crane flying on the stone.
