Wu tangxing
Wu tangxing (1860-1895), a Hakka from Tongluowan, Miaoli, Taiwan, whose ancestral home is Jiaying prefecture (now Meizhou), Guangdong Province, is a patriotic hero who died for his country in the anti header struggle in Taiwan's modern history. He was born a scholar. In May 1895, the Qing government ceded Taiwan to Japan, gathered Cantonese (Hakka) villagers in Taiwan and vowed to resist Japan. With the support of Tang Jingsong, the governor of Taiwan, he was ordered to lead Taiwan's volunteer troops. In the middle of June, when the Japanese army invaded Hsinchu, they fought bravely with Xu Xiang, Jiang Shaozu and other volunteers and repeatedly defeated the Japanese army. In early July, various rebel forces attacked Hsinchu and fought against the Japanese again and again. In the middle of August, he fought with the enemy in Miaoli. In the last ten days of August, in the battle of Changhua, he led the rebel army to fight with the Japanese army in Bagua mountain. He was killed by artillery at the age of 35.

Wu tangxing (1866-1895), whose name is Shaowen, was born in wuzihu, Sanzhen, Jiaoling, Guangdong. His ancestors settled in Tongluo Township, Miaoli County, Taiwan during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty (1736-1895). In 1894, during the Sino Japanese War of 1894, the Treaty of Shimonoseki signed by the Qing government ceded Taiwan to Japan, and all parts of Taiwan organized volunteers to resist the Japanese invasion. General Qiu Fengjia appointed Wu tangxing as the commander of the Miaoli rebellion. Wu ordered Qiu Guolin and Wu Shao to set up a big drum for the clipper. When there was an emergency military situation, the spaceship beat the drum. The rebel army had strict discipline and high morale, and the rich families in Miaoli strongly supported it. In 1895, on the sixth day of the fifth lunar month, the Japanese army landed in Keelung. On the 15th, Taipei fell, and Tang Jingsong, governor and President of the rebel army, fled back to the mainland. After more than 20 days and nights of bloody battle with the Japanese army, the rebel general Qiu Fengjia crossed back to the mainland, where Liu Yongfu, leader of the black flag army, was appointed commander of the rebel army. Liu reappointed Wu tangxing as the commander of the rebel army, and Wu tangxing immediately sent Xu Xiang and Jiang Shaozu to discuss the military situation. He ordered Qiu Guolin to lead 700 troops to tuntaihukou as the guard, Xu Fan to lead his troops to longtanpi as the right wing, and Jiang Shaozu as the left wing. On May 20, the Japanese invaders invaded Hsinchu from Taipei. After two days of fierce fighting, Hsinchu was captured by the Japanese army on May 25 because the Japanese army did not replenish them after being injured. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the Japanese army went south in three routes. Wu tangxing led the rebel army to ambush along the way, killing more than 200 enemies, and the Japanese army was defeated. after Wu tangxing led his troops back to Miaoli, Wu Pengnian, the special staff officer of the black flag army under the command of Liu Yongfu, and Li Weiyi, the deputy general, led 700 reinforcements. On June 18, the Japanese invaders stormed Jianbi mountain. Wu tangxing and Xu Xiang led their troops to fight bravely. The Japanese army also sent two warships to fire guns from the sea of Qiding, and the fighting was very fierce. In the battle of Jianbi mountain, Yang Zaiyun, the commander, died bravely. On the 23rd, the Japanese attacked by night. Miaoli was lost. Yuan Jinqing and Lin Honggui were killed by the black flag. Wu Pengnian, together with Wu tangxing and Xu Xiang, led the Ministry to transfer to Changhua, and at the same time called on Luo Shuxun, the county magistrate of Changhua County, to send troops for reinforcement. on the fifth day of the seventh lunar month in the same year, the Japanese army invaded dajiaxi on a large scale. Wu tangxing and Xu Xiang laid an ambush according to the military deployment and severely damaged the Japanese army. On the seventh day of July, Wu Peng ordered Wang Debiao to lead 300 people to guard Zhongliao and Wu tangxing and Xu Yi to guard Bagua mountain. At dawn on the ninth day of the lunar new year, the Japanese troops feigned to attack dajiaxi with a force, and Wu Pengnian led his troops to fight to the death. However, the Japanese army attacked Bagua mountain with a large force, and Wu tangxing and Xu Yi commanded the volunteers to fight bravely. Wu tangxing died in the army.
Life of the characters
Wu tangxing was a student and also studied martial arts. He was famous for his chivalry and justice. In April 1895, because of the failure of the Sino Japanese War, the Qing government signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki and ceded Taiwan to Japan. On June 15 (May 23 of the lunar calendar), Wu tangxing led 500 troops to support Jiang Shaozu's troops. When they went north together, they encountered Japanese troops in yangmeili. The two armies joined forces to attack, and the Japanese troops retreated slightly. After that, the Japanese army captured Hsinchu and planned to go south. After discussing the war situation with Wu tangxing, Li Su, the prefect of Miaoli County, sent Xu Bingwen to Taichung to be in a hurry. However, Xu Xu tried his best to keep his head and the Japanese army could not advance. On August 8 (June 18 of the lunar calendar), the Japanese army attacked Hsinchu and soon the city fell. The Japanese took advantage of the situation to attack Miaoli, where there was no city and it was difficult to defend. Wu tangxing and Xu Xiang retreated to Changhua. On August 24 (July 5 of the lunar calendar), the Japanese Army crossed dajiaxi, broke huludun (today's Fengyuan City), and the next day broke Taichung.
Heroic sacrifice

After that, he assigned tasks to each team to defend Bagua mountain with Wu tangxing and Xu Xiang. At dawn on the 28th, the Japanese army attacked the mountain and, in particular, attacked the black flag battalion with one unit. Wu tangxing refused to fight, but Xu Xiang also struggled. The artillery fire was so fierce that he could not support it. As a result, Wu tangxing was killed. His wife also drowned after hearing the news.
